We've gotten hammered the past 6 weeks or so. The end of July we got something like 5-6" over a week. Caused major flooding in the areas that got hit again yesterday. Some crazy stuff.... I remember back in '84 we had some crazy heavy rains the one Saturday morning. A week later I went to go trout fishing and the one feeder stream had a small bridge over it. Gone. The wide flange support beams were bent and twisted like a childs toy. W12's, six of them just bent all over the place.

Well I think my equipment is ready...
    It’s all up to me...
Expanded season starts for me next week

Took my stuff out today for final shakedown.

20/30/40 yard cold shots with compound and crossbow.
    6 total shots
    6 bullseyes...

Taken me a little time to get myself to this point again after all the years off.

The body don’t do the things it use to do easily anymore...

    Moving cameras tomorrow or Monday..
Grab some fishing in the am too....

What are you after Moose or what? Don’t know if you guys have white tails up in ME. You probably do but I don’t know much about that state.

Nice! You guys got decent sized bucks up there? All I hear of up there is moose and stuff but I figured there had to be some deer also. Looks like a badass state. Not so developed like Virginia.

After reading all of these posts, I guess it's time to dig my bow out. I start hunting Oct 1, and have not shot 1 arrow yet. I get everything ready when the season goes out in January, then I just need to shoot and hunt. I hunt in really thick CRP fields and the longest distance I have killed a deer is 36 yards. I shoot a few arrows at 40+ but my shots at deer are usually 20 or less. No excuse for not practicing tho. That starts tomorrow. Thanks for getting me off my ass!

The more you prepare the more confidence you have. I feel like the old Army saying has value. “Train as you fight and fight as you train”. If you do all the similar scenarios that you may encounter in the field you will feel much more confident when it’s crunch time. I practice from my tree stand some just to get that elevated practice also.

It’s actually a very pretty state.
Wardens are on top of shit however ,laws are there for a reason.
So you just dot your i’s and cross your t’s and do shit right and they will check you and move on.
We do have some nice size deer in places.
I have a camera 10 min walking from my house.
Yea moose get the press but the deer are all around.
    My boy also hunts birds....
    Lots of hunting to do..
Might try some squirrels again this year. As long as my bow don’t blowup again.
