South Carolina BS thread under new MANAGEMENT and lives in SC

I don't think they distribute the Oktoberfest here. Its better from PA anyway. The stuff they brew here comes from Tampa and the Florida water just isn't the same. It's practically a different beer.

 

That's good stuff.. I've gotten it before in Greenville. Total Wine on Woodruff rd.

 

I was thinking Publix here if we have it at all, or maybe Flynn's on Maxwell, but there are no Sunday booze sales in Greenwood yet.

 

Ya what’s up with that? Is that only our area or state wide? Went to buy beer a couple Sundays ago and they told me no. I told em I know I look young but I am 31....

A lot of South Carolina counties are still following the old blue laws, though several have started to allow beer and wine sales on Sunday. Beer and win sales are controlled by county, liquor by state law. They just passed a ordinance in June so it goes to a vote in November whether Greenwood county will start to allow Sunday sales. Right now you can get it from Newberry, Greenville, or Aiken. The closest Sunday liquor is in Augusta, GA.

 

If you like Octoberfest, give Pumkinhead by Shipyard a try. You can get it at Publix right now, at least in the upstate.

Brewed in Portland, Maine and up there they'll serve it to you in a glass with the glass rim dipped in cinnamon sugar. Not usually my thing but honestly really delicious.

This is crazy! Way out of bounds for a county govt to regulate that, lol. Used to be that way here in York county years ago. Changed in part due to our proximity to Panther Stadium- 20-25 mins away.

 

I misspoke. It is not allowed in Aiken on Sunday. I remember when I lived in Greenville, SC as a younger person, we would go to Hendersonville, NC on Sundays to get beer, and guys would go to Gastonia to get tattoos because tattoo parlors were completely illegal in SC.

 

My county in TN was dry when I grew up. Had to drive 40mins to the next one over to buy liquor. No beer on Sunday's either. They've since passed the liquor sales and I believe Sunday beer too. They now have a Wal-Mart and it sells wine too.

 

Costcos in SC sell beer wine and liquor- liquor only in a separate but attached building (as if that is supposed to make a difference, lol).
Costco in NC sells only beer and wine- no liquor.

 

I looked at the Costco in Spartanburg but didn't see any liquor, wonder if I missed this attached building. In Alaska it was inside the normal store too. Interesting.

 

I've started seeing something akin to mini bottles in gas stations. Not sure what the rules are about that.

 

Now that you mention- I know Greenville has one. Been to Spartanburg- dont recall seeing one there.

 

Those are a blast from the past! Moved here late in 2005- they were the law in restaurants back then. It was on its way out that year or the next.

 

Yup, the mini bottle law was abolished in 2006. That was a weird law.

Put some work in at the local archey range here. Wanted to make sure broadheads were hitting good out to 50. She’s ready to rock and roll now. Can’t believe I can hunt already in 2 weeks! And every truck I ever buy will have windshield tint from here on out, man what a difference it makes.

 

Wait, tattoo shops were completely illegal in SC at one point??
