IMG_20180902_071144.jpg Heres the CVs, rocking a 24-3/4" centerline of hub to bottom of fender measurement. Not sure what stock is but it's definitely lifted lol. Preload is currently at 7/8 passenger side and 1" driver's side. Rides pretty good like this too as long as you have some extra weight on the truck

I know diff drops were okay on 1st gens, not okay on 2nd gens. IDK if they're alright for your 3rd gen or not. I wouldn't feel comfortable w/my CV angles that steep but that's just me.

I'm fine with my CVS where they are, haven't heard any noises and typically I'm moving quick enough for CV binding not to be an issue . If my CVS get messed up it will be impetus to go L/T and get some RCV axles. I can't mess around with a diff drop anyway because of my massive skid plate but I consider that a necessity for protection of my front end because I have plans to go F/G fenders eventually

what front skid you running? I'm considering just getting the RCI fabrication skids.. hmmm. can anyone provide any insight on if diff drop kits will work with rci front skids and every other piece of armor for the transfer case and blah blah other pieces?

The diff drop isn't needed my guy I've been running for 15k miles at this lift without one with no issues. If you want to go any higher you have to go drop bracket but if you just want 2.75" you should be able to eek that out on eibach 650 or 700lb coils that are 14" long. If you have more than 100 extra lbs of stuff or more then I'd say go for the 700s, otherwise they are a little stiffer than necessary. I have approx 100 lbs extra on the front right now and it's just about right, maybe a tiny bit stiff but they should break in

I know they were bad for second gens. My shop suggested not putting it in because of the reason the 2nd gens were having. I achieved 2.75" of lift with with an OME 888/5100 setup with no issues going on 2 years. My CV angles also weren't that extreme to warrant a diff drop.

You don't need diff drop with the lift you are trying to achieve.
