He matched it as close as possible. Rear glass read 23 on a tint meter. 20 on the front was close enough and equalized it out I think. Il take a pic of the mother in laws RAV4 that has 35. You can tell a difference from front to back for sure.

Wow, that is definitely the look I would be going for if I get to tinting them. It's pretty wild that 20% is what got you that match, I always thought that 35% in the front is what matches the back windows

Great question; I should look into it. Works when high beams are on. I will be rural most of the time.

Just a little progress report on the ‘51 Chevy I brought home last year. Front clip is off, motor and trans are out. Next chance I get, the old I-beam will be out. Then prep the frame for the new pieces to go in.

I know I’m late to this convo. I have 3M crystaline 60% on both my frobts. I believe 45% on sides to match rear. Made a big difference on temp in car. No issues with night driving.

The purple usually comes from people using window cleaner with ammonia in it.

SAE J581 is specs for high beams so to be polite you would need to cut them off for oncoming traffic. Looks like a good light. Also meeting that standard it will be less output than a Off-road only light as it has certain beam cut-off, distance, etc it has to meet to obtain that certification. I like that it's usable and adds even more light to a vehicles factory high beams.

I don't think Cali has restrictions on lighting like they do for performance parts but I could be wrong since they like to go by their own rules. I would think the fed would override this though since it meets a DOT compliant standard. Ok so you'll be using them for high beams:thumbsup:.

Sweet! I got Crystaline for that same reason- big time heat rejection in lighter shades.

We are talking about DOT approved SAE compliant lights to be used in conjunction with the high beams.

I do recall that from living there. Hmmm.

This makes me think its allowed. It is an auxiliary high beam. And I am not a CA subject!

Yeah there are some states on this coast that are the same way PA is an example for the lights thing. I have argued my way out of tickets before by proving the actual law to law enforcement it works. With the internet at your finger tips it's easy to prove now compared to having to carry the complete legal guide with you. You got to remember police officers know just enough of the law to be dangerous (not a dis to police officers) this is why we have a court system and lawyers. Even judges and lawyers have to read the laws it's impossible to know every little nuance of the law. I am also the type of person that doesn't comply because I may get pulled or whatever. Gotta remember that if we all become compliant just to not deal we become servants to the state and however they want to enforce a law legally or not. They can get triggered all they want it's their problem for being a snowflake.

Your last comment though things are better than generations ago sadly still holds true and I wish it didn't.

Also cheap tint that fades with time will turn purple.

I use clear glass I get it at the auto parts store best glass cleaner I've ever used. It says on the can safe for tint and has no ammonia just stay away from windex.
