    Question though, Can I retain my transfer case with a T56? AND Whenever I get around to a LS swap, I'll just need a new adapter for whatever engine I go with to link up to the T56, right? Wondering how far down this rabbit hole goes lol. Are we talking new sized drive shafts for front and back? Does the shifter stay in place? Clutch pedal hooks right up?

    Is my understanding that the transfer case can be mounted to the T 56. There was additional information on this topic on the URD website.
    I do know that the T 56 is longer than the stock Tacoma manual six speed transmission so new driveshaft for the front and rear would most definitely be required.

    Gotcha. Yeah I've done a lil more research. Gonna have to give URD a call later and get more info to really see what I'm in for on that. Having a longer 6th gear sounds great to me.

    Let me give a long past due set of updates. As I have been working on other projects. One of those being my best friend's URD S/C'd 2TR. @mnovak

    I must say that I am thoroughly impressed with how well it drives and pulls. Throughout the whole RPM range. Current upgrades to help scavenge those exhaust pulses out are an LCE header, and an upgraded/modded header back exhaust. I tell you, this thing will give a bolt-on s/c 1GR a run for its money. Truthfully.

    After some deliberations, we decided to make the straight piped section modular. In the event that the exhaust was just too loud. He ordered his material from www.stainlessbros.com, and we got to work.
    Their material welds beautifully. Great quality.
    Welding to the OEM material was an exercise though.

    Straight section, coupled with the AFe exhaust, turned out to be race truck loud. Unbearable even. A Vibrant Resonator was ordered up, and placed on the rotisserie.

    Added in the bung for the upcoming Tanabe-USA AFR gauge, see we could monitor engine health. As we were in the pitch black.

    That resonator tamed a beast. A longer muffler maaay be in the future. Got some more big plans for that in the future. Onto the Bimmer...

    Bimmer has been annoying. Found out that it had previous kink in the front end. Doh. Poorly repaired my opinion. Onto that in a bit. First, I had to pull out the bend in inner quarter panel. Drill out the spot welds, manipulate, align, rivet, and spot weld back together.

    Being that I knew about the damage, I had to do something. Leaving it as-is, wasn't good enough. After removing the silicone body filler, I am glad that I did. As I found a tear in the metal.

    Easiest thing for me to do, was just add a little reinforcement. I could have ribbed the back of those plates as well, but they are short and about and 1/8" thick. So it will definitely be an upgrade over how it was left.

    After that, I installed the upgraded radiator, upgraded hoses, and learned that the passenger bumper mount was an 1/8" behind the driver side. Rather than reinvent the wheel, I cut out an aluminum spacer to fit im there.

    This core support is painted and ready for install. Rattle can is all it gets, as it doesn't matter much about appearance where it will reside.

    Have you had his truck on a dyno yet? I want to turbo my 2.7, but the URD SC is tempting. Being that it's basically bolt-on, it would simplify the process a lot, and I'm already LCE's header and catback exhaust.

    There was that extremely exuberant new member who posted his dynos in practically every thread, recently.

    Judging by his dyno, what URD has on their website, and what we've come across with trying to get this thing dialed as best as possible, we are making more than they have posted. We have upgraded his 5th injector to an ~800 cc one, and are still having lean issues.

    His also has the 80mm pulley. Making 11psi. That ecu loves to stay in closed loop or at 14.7 all of the time. It is fighting with the MAP-ECU3. Point being, the tune and 5 injector, from URD, is not sufficient for fueling, with his current mods. No offense to be mistaken there. It just means that his is making more power than how the kit comes. Which is a good thing.

    Once we get the tuning ironed out, and fuel where it needs to be, it will be getting a dyno for sure.

    That's good to hear. I look forward to seeing how it ends up doing. Have you all thought about larger primary injectors? If I decide to go with the URD kit, I'd definitely go with the Stage 2 upgrade. The 5th injector on the URD kit is a major negative in my eyes. Extra injector setups just always seem like a bandaid and not a proper solution.

    We have talked at length about larger primary injectors. Also which will be the most cost effective route, so that parts aren't purchased twice.

    We could through the AFR module into his Map-ECU3, and then be able to tune larger primary injectors. However, with his ultimate goal in mind, that would mean buying another set of injectors down the road. Since the Map-ECU3 cannot tune the injectors that we are planning on. Seeing as the larger 5th injector was a very small price, it accomplished two things. Proved that the crank HP is much more than what the OEM injectors can handle boost referenced with an 800cc 5th, and that more indepth tuning capability coupled with larger primaries are a must. Especially come time for the next pulley. :devil:

    At least it is much closer, to what is an scientific community wide understanding of what a "safe" AFR is. It is not there yet, but no worries of dipping into boost occasionally and knocking a hole in the head gasket.

    A standalone might be next on the list. We'll see. @MrCrowntown better get the ball rolling!:ballchain::boink::anonymous:

    To summarize, @buyobuyo, it depends on how far you want to take your build. Turbo or URD. The data and knowledge for either with the 2TR is all on this forum.

    You will need proper fuel control though. Regardless which you get. We all know that.

    I believe thats been the issue with the Map ecu with the 2.7 for some time now. A member here who had planned to turbo his 2tr bought the map ecu 3 to mess with it before he had done anything to make sure he could have something to tune with but ended up having issues with it fighting the stock ecu. He didn't want to do the 5th injector route either. He spoke with Gadget about it and apparently URD knew about this issue too. he Ended up scrapping the project and bought a turbo diesel colorado lol

    I believe it. Looking at the dyno chart on AFe's website, for their catback exhaust , you can see that the AFR hovers at 14.7 through the entire rev range. Scary stuff.
