 Stock FJ shifter? Besides the boot, did you have to modify the center console for any additional clearance for both shifters?

    Yep.
Piggy back of ^his question ... did you happen to snag a pic before putting the console back on?

The only thing stock about the shifter is the knob. Got a rubber boot off Amazon, had a friend help fabricate a ne shift rod, and cut a hole in the origninal leather boot (RST should be hooking me up with a legit one)

I used to 3 in hole saw to cut the hole in the floor, some asphalt window flashing tape and the boot to seal it back up.

Any other donor vehicles for the VF2A transfer case? Don't most 5th gen 4Runners have a manual (stick) transfer case? Looking at cases on Ebay right now and most of the FJ Cruiser donor trucks are up there in mileage.

Funny you ask, because I actually got mine from a 5th gen 4runner with 34,000 miles on it. Same same.

There are a few 5th Gen 4Runner cases on Ebay that have the stick-cover plate attached, so I wasn't sure. Thanks for the info! At this point, it's gotta be easier to find a low-mile 4Runner transfer case than an FJC's.

Really, really nice work BTW. As clean as your install is, can you tell us how you manage the ADD? RST's wiring instructions list up to 2011 trucks and I'm interested in doing this for my new-to-me 2014 (just like yours).

The first part of the wiring instructions to get the lights on the dash working properly is explained very well and straight forward. As far as the ADD RST has made it much more simple. Instead of having to splice all the wires they have made a complete new harness with neccessary wires and used the same connector thats in th ADD now. So just plug it into the ADD, zip tie it up along the same path as the old and into the cab fuse box. There you connect a red wire in the 4wd fuse for power and ground the white. So the instructions on RST website for wiring really only applies for getting the lights to work.

Cool!! I like the plug and play. You can find just about any connector on the 'net now so I was going to make a plug and play solution, but glad I don't have to re-engineer the wheel. RST knows what's up! Thanks again for the info!

There used to be a complete wiring diagram for how to make one of the switches on the RST forum but unfortunately it is no longer accessible.

I will have to do some digging and see if I can find and post it here.

The part is quite pricey for what it is and can be made on your own to save some $$

^^^That'd be great. Unless I can find a steal on a VF2A, I'm probably 6 months out, but am putting together all the info I can. Such a cool mod.
