I tore more off this afternoon. I hate seeing my truck in pieces and my neighbor likely thinks we have us some honkey out here tearing apart a perfectly good Tacoma.

Oil and filter yesterday. Been contemplating putting off getting my 4Runner wheels powdercoated for a few months. I have some minor annoyances that I could fix with the money instead.

    1.Carrier bearing and 2 U Joints
2.New Pads and rotors with stainless brake lines (already have a set of new Brembo blanks)
3.Redline fluids in the Tranny and T-Case
4.Fixing 2 Chips in my Windshield
5.Getting my Tailpipe rerouted to get more clearance. (This would be the first thing to get done)

The part number is literally right there....

Edit - it took me a while to find this sort of thing was possible, too ;)

Voltage spikes points to the regulator. If at all possible I'd go with the GM part. More common, more output, likely cheaper as well.

Love the engineering here, but I personally can't see putting that much in an IFS system.

Don't get me wrong, love the truck. That just seems like it's going to constantly require maintenance.

Thought some of you might like this and find it useful. Definitely something I would do to a tailgate if I had a spare one to experiment with.

It’s my honor to present you my Tacoma’s new bae. She’s a 98 4Runner Limited 4x4 with 350k miles. Purchased her for 800$ in May. Since then she’s gone green to red, replaced valve cover gaskets, lower control arm bushings (worn out because of the valve cover leak), transmission solenoids, rear main seal, rebuilt starter and alternator, driver side rear wheel bearing, front passenger side wheel bearing, CV axles, differential bushings, windshield, and finally the leather seats! She’s come a long way since then and I’ve spent a little over 1800$ Including the purchase of the 4Runner.
Was it worth it? I say yes since I have a sunroof :D
All work, except the paint job, was done by me:muscleflexing:
And no, I haven’t been able to track down a used bumper for a limited and yes my turn signals are zip tied.

Got the Dakars in today, had a hard time getting the main bolt out, I cut the head, still wouldn't move so I think it was seized in the bushing, ended up cutting it on the inside of the hanger. The driver side shackle came off surprisingly easily but the passenger side I needed to use an air hammer to get out.

I put the main leaf and a 2" spacer to cycle the leaf pack, my numbers seem kinda weird so Im not sure if I did it right...
    hub to fender:
    tucked - 16"
    droop - 32"
    stock shock mount lengths:
    tucked - 15.75"
    droop - 23.25"
    planned relocate lengths:
    tucked - 18"
    droop - 24"
Seems strange to only have 6-7.5" of travel out of dakars

Overall looks good, the ride is ok, I don't see a massive difference but theres a difference. Gotta figure out what shocks I'm gonna go with next and plan the relocate out.

Oh yes, there is lots of up keep. I try to take care of things before they can be a problem on the trail. Just comes with the territory

I'm glad I added the bypasses, during revalve of passenger shock I found this...
    20180902_163039.jpg 20180902_163047.jpg
Even better was the hole punched shim was wedged in the piston. Guess next time I add flutters it will be after two shims. I'm back on base pyramid scheme valving to start with the bypass tube tuning, so not worried about this again.

IFS isn't as bad as people say it is. Don't get me wrong, the amount of torque you can get out of solid axle is crazy. But IFS handles speed so much better. I like speed.

Lots of dust and custom dents, Check Build

Did you cycle it vertically, or just articulated as pictured? You'll get more travel vertically, as the leafs will twist and bind when articulated.

Also, your main leaf is quite a bit negative there, you might want to consider bumping it before that to help with spring life.

You should be about 9" of vertical travel with the dakars, maybe a touch more depending on where you bump, if measured correctly. That's all there is to get out of stock spring mounts.

damn I should've done that, I didnt think it would make a huge difference. Next time I get some free time maybe Ill break it down again. I just jacked it up until it would touch the stock bump basically. Im probably gonna get wheelers bumps when I relocate the shocks. Thanks for the info

Is it normal for my truck to vibrate violently at idle?

Had a feeling. Wonder what it is.

Could be something to do with the junkyard transmission I put in.
