Took me a month to find. Now I've had her a year now. Great truck, loving the 6sp. The only way to go. 20171025_163050.jpg

I wanted a manual but in Canada we can’t get the off-road with a manual so you end up loosing A bunch of options incl. the diff lock.

While I universally LOVE Manual transmissions in the case of my Tacoma Off-Road I opted for the Automatic.

Crawl Control, Hill Decent, MUCH easier to drive on really knarly shit Off-Road, plus my wife can drive it when I’ve had too many beers, we’re on a X-country trip. She can drive a manual but honestly an Auto is just easier in traffic.

I think a lot of manual guys think it’s “macho” or tougher to drive a manual, but performance wise they are simply not better in this size vehicle.

Now for pure driving enjoyment I’ll row my own every time, but when I get the “macho” feeling I break out my FJ40 from back in the days when manuals were by far superior to an Auto.

This is just my opinion of course, and that’s why they make both!!!

What exactly are you asking in this thread? If you love you manual as I do, why are you asking other people what they think? Chances are they are going to say:

    A) Manual

    B) Automatic

    C) I would’ve got the manual but I drive in traffic

    D) I would’ve got the manual but I’m getting older.

Pretty much standard responses for this type of thread which comes up at least once a week. Oh and then people then argue for their choice and trash talk the other guys. Lol.

I was just curious. Seems like you like yours. Great choice by the way! I love my manual as well!

I'm happy with the truck at 7500 miles, only had one minor complaint and that's the leaf springs squeak. I guess there's a bulletin on this, they are adding rear rubbers between springs at no charge.

Yeah man if it needs fixing make sure they get it addressed. I’m dealing with the rear diff issue myself.

I've heard of rear end issues with these, wasn't it 16's and early 17's?

Dude it’s 16,17, and even 18’s. You don’t even have to be off of the “recall”. Just keep an eye on your rear diff. If you see any leaking at all I would take it in. If they give you push back don’t let them get away with it. These trucks aren’t suppose to leak like pieces of junk. We don’t pay all this money to have leaks.

I got an auto and am happy with it. Wife can drive it if she has to and that is good plus my commute typically has a decent amount of traffic so the auto is just easier. I had a manual ranger and didn't love the transmission, my manual mustang transmission is so much better.
