I could be wrong, I just didn’t think they would sell for under invoice. Man I thought I got a good deal some of y’all got crazy good deals. I’m sure location plays a huge roll too.

Cash will defiantly get you a better deal if you can swing it.
End of month and end of summer for sure helps you get the best deal.
I believe a trade in of any kind will help as well because the tax deduction even if its a beater car, will allow you to negotiate some more but do not let them know you have a trade in till the end and you are happy with the final sale price..

Main thing is to Shop around!

Do not give in to their BS they will say everything and anything to make a sale or pressure you. They act very nice and will persuade into a similar car if they do not have what you want... They are sales people and try to make you feel happy and "get the best deal"

Not sure on the package, had to have it with it being a 6spd.

Short bed is only option for a 6spd that I'm aware of

    • % off MSRP means nothing if dealer just adds your discount back in as "dealer prep" or "dealer processing fee" or other BS dealer profit add-on items they charge.
    • Paying cash gets you nothing these days as dealers make more profit via rebates received from lenders if you finance .
    • Besides, you are better off financing as you can currently make a better return investing $40,000 than what's saved at current low auto loan interest rates.
    • Dealer invoice isn't total dealer cost as they get hold-backs (discounts) from manufacturer based on volume. So depending on vehicle cost and their sales volume a dealer can sell a vehicle at quite a bit under invoice and still make a profit.

I’ve seen some comments on getting extra cash off for financing, then getting screwed on interest.

Just so you guys know, you can push off first payment till 45 days, and you need to stay with Toyota financing for 60 days, which means you pay one payment at say 15/20 bucks more at high interest, then at 60 day mark go to credit union or wherever you have good interest loan lined up, switch, keep a few thousand off for a bit of hassle/work, worth it in my opinion.

    That’s what I did.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
Plus TAXES vary Wildly from state to state -- heck here in Missouri they can vary from county to county.
When in the hell are people going to understand that the ONLY TRUE comparison NUMBER (unless you are comparing price in the EXACT location as another buyer-- not too likely)is what they paid for the vehicle -without Taxes, fees, trade-in, finance charges are any other BULLSHIT numbers dealers throw in the paperwork to CONFUSE the "overly enthusiastic" buyer. When I bought my 17 I paid a $75 "paperwork fee" which I flat out told them was BS -- I did pay it -- and dammit that was all -- they are a good dealer.
I probably could have got out of that -- but they treated me well on every other aspect of the sale, and they have a fine service dept.
Specify what is on the vehicle model etc, and -- what the "sticker(s) (another dealer/ area distributer trick) and say what the bottom line is -- anything else posted here is "worthless info"!!

How was your experience with Toyota Direct? I'm looking at a Tacoma now and see TD has terrible ratings but their inventory is pretty stacked against the other dealerships.

I used this thread to help me feel not as bad when buying my truck. so thanks all who were honest!

    Purchased 8/2019
    Location northern California
2018 TRD OR 4X4 MT In MGM with tech package and nothing else.

    Used costco buying program.

Purchase price of $33,685 with an OTD price (tax title license) of $36,185 (OTD price includes current toyota Tacoma $500 rebate...that is taken AFTER purchase price taxes go on)
Sticker was around $35,600 or something. I have all paperwork still if anyone is really interested. Important to note I drove 450 miles to pick this truck up because southern California doesnt have manuals in stock very often. I did have a quoted Costco price ON order Cement 4x4 MT with tech, floor mats, and door sill protectors for estimated 38k OTD. That will come into Norwalk Toyota in a month or so......

I didn’t have a terrible experience. I’d rate it a 8/10. They answered all my questions and got back to me fairly quickly. You can tell that they’re not too worried about the sale though. In their mind they’re going to sell it either way, demand is that high. I went through the one on Morse rd in Columbus. I’d recommend going through them. They were the lowest price I could get around Columbus. And so far their service department has been easy to work with.
