My Footwell/cupholder interior accent led project (AKA Fighter Pilot Cockpit Mod)

They are ran in parallel, I made wiring harnesses for the positive and ground.

 

It's kind of a primitive drawing but here is how I ran mine.

if one goes out, the rest will still work.

 

Thank you Keason, ya that is how I did mine too. If you made some more leads you could do the door pockets too. Someone else on here did it here pretty recently.

Ok I did it and it looks great but my camera is not good enough to really get a decent pic, but the wiring was somewhat easy. I do though want to know were a constant source would be incase I want to turn them on with out the keys on.

Oh one more thing the lower holes for the switches have wires connected to them on mine does yours? Also the the switch I got from ozium does not fit so I have to make it work tomorrow.

 

If you want a constant power supply just bust out the multi meter or (test light not recommended) and check which fuses are on when the key is out/off, just remember to have the correct fuse in the first slot of the add a circuit. Use the dremel or rotary tool and wear off some of the lip on the inside of where the switch is supposed to go. just take off enough to get the posts through. Don't worry about the wires running to the blanks its just for shit you don't have yet

 

Now when you say yet what do you mean. Is the power running through them and were do they run to.

 

When I say "yet" I mean either for more lights elsewhere or switches for factory options you didn't get with your ride. Now I am not sure which model you have since you don't have it posted, but they would go to the lsd if you have off road etc. I'm pretty sure they don't have any power just the expandability to put other factory options in.

 

Ok I will have to find out from the dealer what there would be, cause I want to take them out put a switch in there. I have an off road but no switches for lsd on/off if they come w/ that.

 

What would you need to do to make these lights come on when you have your headlights on? That's how I would want them to work.

 

^you would need to tie in the power for the LEDs to a relay for the headlight switch somehow. That is beyond my capabilities tho

 

He is right, just find the power to them or the light switch in side. But use a relay for it. OR you could just put them to a switch and leave it on all the time?

 

I think I am looking into it when I have time, but i have a plan that tie the LED light to the tempature control light.

How are these LEDs holding up? Read somewhere they burn out quickly...
And really wouldnt wanna get all the wires run, then have to redo it 2 weeks later

 

No problems with mine after almost a year.

 

same here, LED's last a very long time. A custom audio shop here builds led light bars and he said they will last around 11 years

 

Coolio.. ordering mine now... and hoping for a cooler day to do it on... lol

his post is about halfway down or so, and it is a more extreme version of this mod but i loved it!

 

I dont know if I would call this more extreme as I have way more LED's in my Truck than that now but it sure looks good. Thanks for sharing.
