Craigslist is full of backyard breeders trying to get a $1000 "rehoming fee" for puppies. Craigslist allows people to get a nominal fee for shots and things like that, but people aren't supposed to sell puppies. And flagging posts that violate the TOU does absolutely nothing.

Especially repulsive are the shitbags breeding pitbulls that do nothing to ensure puppies go to the right family. I'm sure a number of those puppies end up in our shelters because people get a dog they aren't prepared to handle.

CL has been pressured by various animal rights groups to disallow any pets sales because of the number of unscrupulous "breeders" whose pups often end up in shelters.

CL's position is if just one dog is rehomed instead of ending up in a shelter, then they will continue allow pet sales. Nevermind all the others that end up in shelters.

Went out for an aggressive run today. Sadie made a high speed stop, turn, and go. Ripped up a toe nail on her back leg. Bled like a stuck pig. She didn't even react. Kept on running.
Try as I might, I can't seem to keep her nails clipped to a decent length. She hates the process. Consequently, they are longer than I would like.

 

We did the same. Except no ripped nail. Riley will chase the RC trucks and that's what we did today. He's out like a light.

My 7 month old German Shepherd enjoying some glacier lakes too cool off on our hike.

 

Both my dogs are Craigslist dogs and both are fantastic. My youngest, the shepherd/husky, is only 4 months and proves to be a great protection dog. They aren't pure, but both were/are extremely healthy and smart as hell.

 

I've been using a Dremel tool with a sanding drum on nails for years. Works like a charm. But the dogs don't like it either.

My new wire hair dachshund Alf fist time,with a smaller dog he is super chill. Had a boxer before till cancer got her.

 

Yeah, that was my first program, as breeder introduced her to it when she was very young. Didn’t help. Even had my 6’4” 250 pound cop hold her while I worked the dremel. Even he couldn’t hold her still. Was worried she’d hurt herself trying to escape. Gave up. Just using regular clippers now. It’s faster and she somewhat cooperates. Still, it’s a bitch.

 

I have had success getting the dogs to file their nails themselves by taking them for long walks.

 

My two Chesapeake Bay Retrievers didn't require trimming. Well, the one I have now started the old man phase (13 years old) and regular clippings are now required. But the GSP has a different nail configuration. Strange. I run her all the time. Just not on blacktop, or concret.
