Firearms Microstamping Bill Will Halt Sales of Semi Auto Pistols
Because micro-stamping technology is not yet available, passage of this bill will result in a purchase freeze on all new semi-automatic pistols.

Albany, NY --(Ammoland.com)- As everyone knows microstamping will most likely come to a vote in the NYS Senate prior to adjournment this month.
I know you have been calling your NYS Senator and urging that this legislation be defeated since it will do nothing to make the people of New York State more secure only further restrict the legal and lawful gun owners of this state. I appreciate that but the fight is not over and there is more to do.
Please call all of the following NYS Senate Republican Senate leaders and urge them to hold their conference together and make sure their members all vote NO ON MICROSTAMPING.
Those Senators and their positions are:
Remember, emails are good but calls are better, let’s show the leadership how we feel and explain in a polite manner that their jobs are dependent on us. Light up the Switchboard

In NY, and if it passes. Though used pistols I'm sure, would be exempt.

Microstamping has already been proven to be ineffective and easily defeated, this was by experts in firearms. Why do idiots in politics continue their one-sided agendas in the face of overwelming proof that their reasoning, logic, and opinions are FALSE?

I see no link to the bill itself. I'm not taking someone else's opinion or summary of what they think it means as a basis for my own opinion.

Provide a link to the text of the actual bill.

    Incorrect. Read the bill.

Read the bill. Nowhere does it say they're taking away your guns.

    http://assembly.state.ny.us/leg/?default_fld=&bn=S06005&Text=Y

    From the bill itself:
    ------------------------------------------
26 S 7. This act shall take effect January 1, 2012, or at such time that
27 the superintendent of the state police has received written notice from
28 one or more microstamp job shops that such shop or shops are willing and
29 prepared to produce microstamp structures on two internal surfaces of a
30 semiautomatic pistol in accordance with subdivision 24 of section 265.00
31 of the penal law for a price of twelve dollars or less at a production
32 level of one thousand semiautomatic pistols per batch, whichever occurs
    33 first;
    ------------------------------------------

It says nothing about taking away your guns, it does not go into effect for several years at the earliest, and a requirement is that it's cost effective with a maximum additional manufacturing cost of $12 per gun.

The loophole that I see is that they have the time limit on the effective date with the clause "whichever comes first." As it's worded, if the technology is not yet in place by 1/1/2012, the bill still goes into effect.

Be angry, but have a direction. Crying about having your guns taken away, hating the president, and spewing racism does nothing.

Point out specific, rational errors and concerns when speaking with your representatives.

Emotional, reactionary responses do nothing but make gun nuts look like gun nuts. Don't take the slant provided by the NRA, Fox News, or (heaven forbid) freerepublic.com and think it's an informed and impartial stance.

If you want to be taken seriously, read the source literature, educate yourselves, and form your own opinions.
