Parked next to ridgeline at Lowe’s this weekend. Walked out and the guy was backing out of his parking spot. His exhaust sounded a lot better than the TRD exhaust on my Tacoma. Now I want the more grumbly deeper tone of the ridge line exhaust which really sounded more like a V8 not as popcorny like the Tacoma. Why does the ridge line sound so much better? Aren’t they both V6?

When an engine is dyeing is making deeper sounds.

Lots of things to consider in this. For example, I had a 3.5 V6 G35 a ways back, the Tacoma is NEVER going to sound as beautiful as the G35, Why? Different tuning, different exhaust.

None of the V6 Toyota's I've owned had great exhaust note. In fact, no V6 on any car, period. Then again, I never cared about how a car sounded.

If you want grumble, get a Hemi or Coyote 5.0. No V6 comes even close to resembling either of them.

Honda makes a good quality product i believe just as good as Toyota when it comes to engines. Not dying

I just recently got rid of my 6MT G35 after nearly a decade. The exhaust note alone was enough of a reason to drive it every once in a blue moon. Had an Agency Power Ti exhaust from a 350Z with extensions to fit the sedan.

There are very few V6’s that sound as good as the VQ35.

I hate when people put cheap duals on Z’s And G’s.. just ruins the lovely sound. I ran no cats + Nismo and it was music to my ears.

Pretty sure it has a different firing order. A V6 with a firing order that skips around sounds a little better at idle than one that just goes 1-2-3-4-5-6, which is what Toyota's 3.5 does.

Is the ridge line also a 3.5L?

I had a second gen Ridgeline prior to my current Tacoma. I think the Tacoma's exhaust sounds better? Which leads me to believe this is purely subjective.

From what I do remember though, the Ridgeline's exhaust was more quiet and was deeper in tone.

I think exhaust note is really important to a lot of people why does borla, magnaflow, flowmaster etc sell so many aftermarket exhausts? I’d just like my truck to sound a little more manly and little less minivan

Meh, I don't care about exhaust on the Tacoma. It's a v6, so I recognize that it most likely won't sound good to me if I do exhaust. There are very few 6 cylinder vehicles that I would put exhaust on and only 1 is a truck (Cummins).

The Honda 3.5 is also 75° vs. Toyotas at 60°. Pretty sure this would necessitate a different firing order and in itself would change the characteristics of the exhaust note. AT IDLE....after that it's hard to make odd number banks sound good.

Lamborghini has said they spent millions making their V10 sound good vs. the drone of the Viper engine.

    That's a I6, they're easy to make sound good. It's a perfectly balanced bank of cylinders. 1/2 a Ferrari.

Oh I know people care about the exhaust sound, just saying I don't.
