I've had the deckplate mod for well over 10 yrs & never had a problem passing visual inspection for smog. I do always leave it closed though.

BTW, I also have a K&N drop in filter, my truck came with a full K&N FIPK when I first got it. Sold it & bought a stock intake which came with a K&N drop in. Been using it ever since cause free, I never get oil on my MAF.

What happens is people put too much oil on them & also don't let the oil soak into the filter. It doesn't need a lot, they spray on the oil & install it right away. I let mine sit over night & blow any oil out caught on the screen.

But they suck for offroad. When I go offroading, I use a stock replacement.

The block/battery/Terminal install was quick but resizing/replacing the aux ring connections took some time.

It's also more difficult to do the deckplate mod on the 2.7l - the airbox has ridges.

Oh yeah, I think I remember something about that. On the 3.4 it's flat, only has ridges on the inside so hard to put nuts. I didn't use any nuts.

But whatever, the deckplate mod is a waste of time & money IMO. After I put on one of those stupid Airaid tubes, I leave the deckplate closed all the time now, makes way too much noise.

That's fair but come to think of it I don't even need it, sorry about that. I have a custom made mount from CT days that I never put on (think it's for an Optima though). And now I want one like you have. Damn you! I need to stop coming here. I just PM'd the guy to see if he has any left in all black.

I thought the 3.4 was internally balanced. And the crank pulley isn't even a harmonic balancer it's a elastomeric damper used to dampen axial acceleration and deceleration forces?
Have you tried pulling the pulley and checking the flange surface if it's true?
You can always send in your next oil change sample to have tested to see if there's an issue inside the motor. That'd be my course of action.

I already have my terminals replaced with the same ones you used. So if the aux lines already have inline fuses, did you cut those out?

Pardon, isn't that pretty much exactly the definition of a harmonic balancer??

Currently, my aux lights have inline fuse, a fuse in the block and the 125A fuse. I dont think this will cause any problems but I plan on removing the inline fuses.
I have been practicing my soldering on a 4x4 trailer I am building. Once I have that down, I will go back and cut out all the old inline fuses and poor butt crimp splices I initially used.

I guess having fuses in series doesnt really affect anything right? Cause if you have a surge it will just pop the first fuse.

Also what gauge wire did you run to the box from the battery terminal? 4gauge?

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
My new frame finally came in 4 months later.. wallets much lighter but now the truck can finally start going together. Engines out in Arizona in the next week or so. She should be running by spring. (I’ll post pictures of the frame when I get home)
