Couldn't give 2 shits. When trying to sound tough, at least do it right.
How about going to the Honda Civic thread & ask questions about your Tacoma. Yeah, they're different.

Thank you for the Grammer lesson.

Again, I could give 2 shits.

Post #6 from 5 years ago mentions a bestop. It's blatantly obvious this thread is about either/or. You sure love to stir the pot.

When trying to make a comparison at least do it correctly. I didn't ask about the mounting hardware or some other unique/proprietary piece. If I had, then your pitiful comparison would be valid. Unfortunately for you I asked about a button snap. And what's funny is that Bestop doesn't come with any snaps, but you know what does? "Your" Softopper. So I would've thought that someone, somewhere, at some point would have experience replacing the hardware that comes standard on "your" brand topper. Shame on me for wanting to adapt parts for a use outside their intended function. Heaven forbid you put anything in or on your truck that wasn't explicitly designed for a Tacoma. I'm done with this jerkoff.

The Softopper & Bestop are in the $750ish range. The Can-Back is $2,300 before adding roof racks or screen mesh windows (and soon the side mount racks).

Take your wife/girlfriend out for a spendy dinner if you didn't already tell her you ordered it.

THIS. I took my wife out for a nice date. Explained how we needed it to keep our gear dry for a 1500 mile Summer road trip. I couldn't have effectively completed that trek without my softopper.

my advice is dont worry about getting it to fit "perfect". itll make you go crazy!

its not that the quality or fitment isnt good, im very happy with my softopper! but i always see little things here and there that im always adjusting. its purely my ocd kicking in and ruining my life.

    Just getting started
I just installed mine a week ago, So far I am very happy with it. I mainly purchased it to keep my gear dry and clean during my trips and to sleep in the back of my truck, got tired of putting up a tent every night and taking it down every morning since we dont base camp and not a fan of RTT’s.
Fiberglass toppers are almost 3 times the price and in my opinion make a truck look like an SUV, I glad O went with the Softopper. Only thing I didnt do was put the velcro strip on the tailgate, I have a couple of different ideas on what I am going to do there. I will post up which ever way I decide to go.

I just ordered mine a few minutes ago, however I already prepped the wife on the reason I am spending this much money on a fabric canopy, rather than a hard top.
She completely understood how and why, when I told her about it 6 months ago.

It comes with seam sealer. It takes 40 minutes to install the the ST if you are slow.

Schedule another hour of time to apply the seam sealer in addition to installing the ST.

    ...I still haven't applied my seam sealer.:anonymous:

Looking into getting one of these and just using it to camp/sleep in at trail heads and such. But when not using it in Colorado (Kansas here) I would be taking it down and off. Anyone else do something similar to this??? Advice, comments, insults, etc????

Mine is on in the winter and off in the summer.

I hate shoveling snow out of the bed.

Mine is only on when going camping or on long road trips. The rest of the time it’s folded up in my garage.

After purchasing my '17 for myself back in October '17, the plans for solo overnighting started to become a vision. I am a fairly simple creature when it comes to comforts so crashing in the back of the truck will be a snap. Even though I'm right at 6 foot, I don't sleep straight legged - rather on my side with legs wherever. So, I plan to make a carpeted platform above the wheel wells so I can stow fishing gear under it, and everything else in the back seat. I will also be building a rack over the ST for my kayak.

There are some kayak fishing areas around me that are time sensitive, require reservations to secure a camp spot, and weather permitted to kayak fish. I don't want to have to make reservations 9 months out only to not be able to go and lose my reservation deposit due to bad weather. If the weather is good on those dates, I'll just show up and stealth camp in the area.

Anyone have issues with the front not staying tucked in? I always have to take it back in the front after a while. I haven't drilled in the buttons though...
