Your local auto parts store can read it for free..

Or you can dig back through this thread. There's a free app mentioned that will do it too.

EDIT: Found it free app CAR SCANNER

I was just going to post about "Car Scanner" lol

I've been using Torque for years, but could not find the cal id to save my life. Car Scanner works like a dream!

My dealer told me it already had the latest software installed, he told me which one and it was B003. How do i get B004 installed? Tech said he did a "health check" and that B004 was NOT coming up and that the truck was up to date? Argh...

Just get them to pull up, or better yet you print out, T-SB-0058-18 and T-SB-0062-18 so they can see what it should be.
EDIT: Sorry, just saw this is in Canada.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
I had the most recent TSB applied today. This most recent revision has made HUGE improvements to shift points and throttle response. So much so that, it drives like a different truck.

Also slapped a TRD Intake on it while my buddy and I were applying the TSB update.

All I can say thanks to all on this forum, it is because of this community I was able to track down the proper fix, correct revision and time of Toyota’s release dates on their software.

    This is a huge!!

Toyota dealership in Langley. I didn't have any pushback but i have been a customer there for 10 years with multiple vehicles. I brought in the canadian version of the TSB and mentioned my issues. Got me in the following week and applied it.

The same thing happened to me. However, that is “lazy” on the part of the dealer. They actually have to check another screen for the TSB. I printed the TSB out, put it in the seat, and asked the service advisor to make sure the tech sees it. 3 hours later the tech told me there was no update for my truck. I asked him if he bothered to read the TSB I placed in the seat. He said “no sir”. I asked him to read it and check again. He came back 5 minutes later and apologized and said I was right. I told him I knew that. He did the update and I left a very happy camper, but not as happy as I was after I drove it about 10 miles. It feels like a different truck now.

Can this be done DIY with a J2534 cable and the 2-day TIS/Techstream Professional (or standard?) subscription? Would rather not have to bother with the dealer/scheduling if at all possible.

How did you do this? Should my 2018 end in 400? I recently had the update done and it worked for half a day, when I was done running errands it seemed to be back to the same old thing. However, it seems to be acting slightly different after each start up. Anyone care to comment?

Hey guys, first, I'm sorry this is not working as I may have led you to believe. I was basing my statements on second hand information.

I did find this information though and it might help. I still haven't had the chance to try any of this for myself.

    https://torque-bhp.com/forums/?wpforumaction=viewtopic&t=2366.0

In this post on the Torque forum it sounds like this guy is experiencing the same problem and then discovers a solution.

Could one of you try this while I dig around some more? I am willing to register on the Torque forum to get more answers.

    Rob

Oh, will Car Scanner work with any OBD2 dongle? Or just the Elm?

Should work with any. Im not using elm.

This is what I'm using. I've been using it for the last couple of years and it's been Bulletproof. Before I was using a cheap one off of eBay, don't waste your money.

Thanks, I added the Car Scanner app last night. Just need to get home before 9pm to test this whole thing out. Might have to wait until the weekend.
