I have a love hate relationship with my Sport. And the manual transmission. Some days I love having a sport, and somedays I wish I had gone with the OffRoad. The suspension in the sport is very harsh for my liking, however that can be addressed by swapping the coilovers and shocks. Most likely will be going with some 5100s. Hopefully that will make me more happy with my choice of a sport.

I have the Sport and I love it. For me, off-roading means having to park on the grass occasionally, so it’s more than fine for my purposes. I have heard that the OR rides a bit softer and floatier, but I’ve not personally driven one.

Who knows. I saw a black OR today at worked and loved it. However I know the paint quality sucks so black is probably not the best option. I like the cement but they don’t have any. The one the other dealer has is pretty basic

All of which is only usable in 4L which essentially makes them useless for everyday driving.

I hope u love looking at those buttons as much as everyone else loves looking at my hood scoop! :D

All Tacomas have a front skid plate. But on the OR and the Pro, the plate extends further back, and protects the front diff.

The Pro is a 1/4” almuminum if I remember correctly....everything else is pretty thin stamped sheet metal...better than nothing I guess lol. Didn’t “need” the array of buttons on a OR..I’m just happy mines a 4x4...has gotten me everywhere I’ve needed to go .

My wife's '17 is a bare-bones OR. We chose it because we fully intend to 'wheel it, and will do plenty of moderate to hard trails. Deciding factor for me was the bigger rear end with factory e-locker. That said, I have used the crawl control off road now, too, with good results. Much like a Wrangler Rubicon, I wouldn't buy an OR if 1) it will mainly be street-driven, or 2) you intend to embark on a BIG build.

So I ended up going with a TRD Sport. I think I uploaded a pic. It’s got the tech package, heated seats, moon roof, JBL speakers and came with a hard cover and roof rack. I do think the OR looks a bit tougher if you will but 90% of my miles are on the road and when I do go off road I would probably be fine in a Subaru. Thanks for all your input. Nice truck man! Black sport looks money . You will love it. These trucks in any form do plenty well in the majority of offroad conditions most of will encounter, fire roads and primitive trails alike. Mine was to get me to some remote fly fishing destinations, haul lumber, and road trips...hasn’t let me down yet

I subscribe to the “it’s better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it” school of thought.

The Sport suspension can be lifted/upgraded if needed which would make no difference if you got the SR5, Sport or OR except for Crawl.
