    For anyone that is going to sand or strip their cast iron, use a dust mask. I did my pans a few years ago, and suffered respiratory problems after. Not good.

    Picked this Gem up for my sister. It's a #8 Puritan with fire ring. Puritan was a house Brand for Sears Robuck. Now for the people who are getting into cast iron collecting or trying to find some quality old school pieces without refinancing your Truck. Heres the back story of Puritan. It was made 1920s to 1930s. The Puritan brand was produced by Griswold for Sears. Other than the trademark, pieces are in most respects identical to Griswold-made Merit. Griswold Puritans are easily distinguished from the Favorite-made by the distinctive handle shape and the 4-digit pattern numbers. Some Griswold-made pieces, like waffle irons, did not have the typical Puritan stylized. So don't pass up those weird, old school brands. Do a quick search and you might just find a Griswold for pennies on the dollar. I got this guy for $25.00 in A- condition, smooth as glass, and fully prepped and clean waiting on the seasoning. If it was branded Griswold, would of probably fetched over $150.00.

    Another little non-banded piece. I've had this piece for years. Pretty sure it's a victor due to the handle design. I can't get anything to stick this guy if I tried. Very light and smooth. Most likely late 30s to early 40s due to being hand stamped, but they used a mill to finish the surface. But most fire rings were fazed out in early 40s due to the surge in electric stoves.

    I also half to give the Grand Daddy of my collection some love. 14inch Griswold. This is a huge pan. Weighs half of what my 9inch lodge weighs. This guys heats up instantly and holds for a long time.

    heats up instantly and holds for a long time kinda are on opposites sides of the spectrum no?

    i vaguely remember newton's law of cooling..what heats up fast..cools fast.

    having said that..BAD ASS PAN!! i would love a #9 someday.

    i'm still seasoning my griswold. cleaning it to bare steel was a bad idea. :( doesnt help that i cut way back on meat. cuz meat cooking is what seasons it easier than anything.
