They do it so truckers can weigh and stay legal.
The scales are +-20 lbs. I called the state weigh master once to find out how accurate they are because I weighed a horse on one.

LOL That’s damn smart! I’m sure the vet would charge to have a horse weighed here in CA LOL

She was weighed by a vet once, 860 lbs same as the truck scale. I was passing by the truck scale so I didn't have to go out of my way.

Oops, I don't tend to do any of the 3, I'm usually trying to decide if what just came into my head is worth sharing, or is it only funny to me.

I don't think it really matters how heavy his truck is if he thinks he can safely drive it. That being said, you're being super naive if you don't think the other driver's insurance and/or attorney will not investigate your vehicle weight and modifications. Especially if there's a personal injury claim. Personal injury attorneys foam at the mouth for things like overweight trucks, lifted trucks, modified engines and suspension, etc.

No issues with @perpetualenigma3 during his accident.

Too bad. Like all threads on TW. Fun thread goes south.

He's lucky. My coworker rear ended a Buick in a church/school zone and they tore his insurance company a new one over his lift and the fact that his Tahoe was dragging ass. They used his Facebook posts, instagram photos, and got a court order to keep his truck at the tow company so they could investigate. His premiums are ridiculous now.

I'm not saying people shouldn't modify their trucks or enjoy them. I'm just saying you shouldn't discount the possibility that you may get fucked over. I think it's ridiculous that personal injury and insurance companies can take advantage of things like that, but that's the world we live in. It's not stopping me, and it shouldn't stop anyone else that enjoys it, but it's part of the game.

To get back on topic, if anyone in the Florence area of South Carolina wants to weigh their truck for free, PM me for directions to my place of business. It'll take all of 2 minutes.

It's not first hand unless you were a) the little girl, or b) the little girl's parent, or c) the driver, or d) one of the investigators.
