Really, odd. Yeah from what I've read 03-04 switched to the cable and wire TB.

Haha, motor mounts are fine, still on the originals. I was more worried about shock towers & the frame. That was like 12-13yrs ago, did it only once & never again. :)

But it wasn't my fault, what had happen was..... well if you look closely in this pic you'll see what was to blame.

Unless you are running 2ga wire to each light, you need to rethink this. The fuse is to protect the wire, and thus the vehicle.

If you are running 125a fuse on, say, 8ga, you will have a fire on your hands long before the fuse blows.

Mine was so easy. I hear some people had to use a puller to get the CB off & had trouble realigning the front driveshaft when putting it back on.

I decided to not take the driveshaft out. I just unbolted it at the cardan, took off the stake nut & the yoke & CB just slid right off. Well the yoke I had to tap it slightly to get moving but after that it slid right off. But my truck has lived in SoCal all it's life. Be sure to put a mark on the yoke & cardan as well as the yoke after taking off the stake nut so it makes realignment easy.

Just pay attention to the 2 shims between the CB & yoke as to not overlook them & put them back on. I lightly greased the driveshaft where the CB slides onto as well as the splines & the 2 shims. I used an impact gun to remove & replace the stake nut (uh oh torque nazis are going slay me) & had no problem staking the nut with the drive shaft still attached to the trans.

As for the windshield chip repair, I used the permatex kit but they're all similar for the same style kit. It was the double sided tape one rather than the suction cup style. I believe it's hit or miss in good results depending on what type of crack it is.

ETCS-i. Really unclear when Toyota implemented it, and didn't implement it.

I too thought it was 03-04 that had it as well as the different lower mounted ebrake cable location on the rear axle. I knew someone with an 02 & itdid not have it either.

When I bought my truck I specifically wanted 01-02 because I did not want the drive by wire system as well as no ABS & no VSC. Back then I thought ABS only came on 03-04 but someone said it was an option on earlier years.

ABS has been around since 1995. It was just an option. I believe it became standard I want to say in 2001?

Looks like it came standard on 03s & up. All the 01-02s I looked at around here didn't have ABS & is one of the reasons why I thought they didn't come with it. My 01 doesn't have it. All the 03-04s I looked at had ABS & drive by wire. I was only looking at 6 luggers though.

Not my pic but anyone know what's the deal with this? Just curious. I've never seen cruise control like this, have always seen it on the steering wheel like mine. Mine is an 01 & so is the truck in the pic.

At first I thought it was aftermarket & it looks aftermarket to me but it looks like the steering column cover was molded for that lever.

Yup like I mentioned it looks aftermarket to me but what about the steering column cover, looks like it's molded for that lever. Unless my eyes are deciving me & that's a seperate bezel that is mounted on the steering column cover.

    Good eye.

Hmm idk, don’t think its oem but that must of been a really nice kit if aftermarket

My thoughts exactly, that lever does not look like something Toyota would ever make but if the steering column cover is molded like that then wtf? I think it must be an add on bezel mount. Hard to tell in the pic cause it's dirty. Oh well, was just curious is all & thought someone might have known.

It's also possible that it's a dealer installed option for trucks that didn't come with cruise control. I've seen a lot of Tacomas with that cruise control stalk.
