The ECU takes all information as KPH, it's converted on the gauge cluster. But when you're driving around the ECU takes wheel speed information as KPH for all things inside the ECU. Even the speed limiter is KPH

1.05 will have the new ECU and TCU upgrades included that Toyota has just released (this is why 1.05 is past it’s predicted launch date)

You could do the TSB now if it is making you crazy because even if you order the tune it will still take a few weeks to show up

I’m new to this tune and very interested in doing this once this latest version comes out. Sorry if this has come up before, but I haven’t gotten very far into this thread yet.

Will you be able to input the trucks tire size into this tune and have it correct the speedometer? Also, if this tune will not do that, will a speedo recalibrator interfere with a tune like this? (ie: hyper tech)

It doesnt calibrate your speedo. You can use a hypertech, ive been running one since I got 34's and its fine.

The base maps don't calibrate, but something I've been wondering is if it's possible once custom tuning is available?

Would be cool! But since I have already spent the money on the hypertech, id rather get custom shift shift points and what not on the custom tune

Personally I'm not impressed with the new TSB overall....some of the shifting is improved (highway in particular), but the shifting overall and the throttle response is still crap. I was on 1.04 before I loaded the TSB two weeks ago. Yesterday I pulled out into traffic when it was "clear" and this guy immediately crests a hill going WAY faster than he should be. When I pulled into traffic I was lightish on the throttle because there was no need to be anything more. When that guy appeared going to fast, I immediately gave it somewhere between 75-100% of throttle and the truck fucking FROZE (to the point I felt pressure on my chest from the seatbelt) before it decided what gear to be in and how much throttle to apply and then it JERKED forward like crazy. So fucking unpleasant. Luckily, though he was going too fast, he was paying attention, so he was able to slow down instead of possibly running into the back of me. And when coming to a stop at very low speed (sub 5 mph) the damn transmission STILL clunks around trying to figure out what gear to be in. The OVtune is the only thing that stops me wanting to set this truck (really the engine/transmission) on fire. I may not be able to wait for 1.05 at this rate. I was going to bypass 1.04R for 1.05...I can take maybe another week of this.

It's not like you'd have to choose one or the other. It's a custom tune, not a limited budget shopping list lol

I'm with you. I don't get the clunking that used to when coming to a stop on stock with the new TSB and generally speaking the highway shifting and throttle are good as-is. Honestly wouldn't want a ton of the highway shift maps changed b/c it does hold 5th and 6th under load MUCH better (than even prior OVTunes) but the off-the-line throttle and the richer AFR does bog down at times and I have to get on the throttle a lot more. It's still miles beyond the prior Toyota calibration for sure - as in, the truck does actually respond to initial throttle input in a more predictable way. Still will hesitate at WOT which is rare for me anyway unless in a scenario like you called out above - and when it has staggered in that scenario it can be scary.

I too plan to skip 1.04r and go straight to 1.05 - and I can live with the sluggish low-end for a little while longer but am eager for 1.05 just like the rest!

Well as someone that received the TSB prior to the Tune, I will tell you that it is a lot better than stock. Toyota was able to fix the shifting issues for the most part and the throttle response. However, now I have the 1.04R tune installed on my truck and it’s even better than before. Like wow! It rides so smooth, Shifting is not an issue at all, throttle response is amazing, when I step on the gas it doesn’t downshift and hesitate anymore. It holds gears longer and it’s amazing to not have my truck hunting gears just going up a slight hill here and there to and from work. It constantly stays in 4th or 5th. It doesn’t have to keep going back and forth. It’s amazing! I’m definitely enjoying the 1.04R and cannot wait for the 1.05!

Will this log to the SD card port on the Tactrix or will this be logged on a laptop?

    To laptop.

I have spoken with tactrix and asked them to refine the code for SD card logging but unfortunately the log capture rate is so slow when using the SD card it's not really useful.

Okay thats good to know. This is probably a long shot, but could a wireless/bluetooth obdii dongle like the Carista adapter be used to capture this log data? Just asking since I tried to log with techstream and the usb cable was just laying over my lap. I may just zip tie the usb cable in a more convenient place and out of my lap lol

I just bought a really really long USB cable off Amazon to use. If logging I run the cable around the left side of the driver's seat and behind me with the laptop on the armrest to get logging started, then I wedge it in the passenger side floorboard so the laptop doesn't slide around. Carista isn't fast enough for logging like this - it's a good way to triage issues and monitor things on a drive easily for certain and I use mine for that purpose frequently, but you are only getting like 6-7 data points PER SECOND meaning that if you look at a line of data across 20 PIDs you are looking at data across a span of 3-4 seconds whereas direct USB connection to your laptop is exponentially faster and catching lean spikes and whatnot really demands that kind of logging down to the fraction of a second

The cable that came with my OVT kit doesn't sit across my lap and does fine when logging. Just sits in front of my legs/shins and crosses in front of my shifter and over to the laptop on the passenger seat. Should do the same for you without any issues

@OVTune I know setting target dates is frustrating when the variables you are dealing with keep shifting. The life of a software developer to the core :)

That said, I wonder if there is a general range you have line of sight to right now for 1.05? Would impact whether I flash 1.04r or hold out for 1.05 (which I'd prefer)

    Multiple choice:
    a. <2 weeks out
    b. 2-4 weeks out
    c. 4-8 weeks out

No desire to rush the product b/c quality and TESTING take time but I know some would love to get a feel for a general range of release even if an exact target can't be set while you're sifting through all the variations in calibrations released globally as of late.

This makes a lot of sense, thanks for the info! Im get a longer cable.

it does, but to me, feels dangerous to drive with something in front of my legs or across my lap. Longer cable makes sense though :)

@OVTune If you need someone to log I can do so with your logger. Ready and waiting.
