I have read about the TSB to help the hesitation but I feel like my truck is always lurching or jumping when on the highway at lower RPM. I do not feel it while driving around town or accelerating. No difference if I hit the ECT button. It feel like the truck is hitting imperfections in the road even though there are none. I initially thought I threw a wheel weight but not the case. I am going in for my 10k service tomorrow and wanted to mention this to the dealer. Stock aside from 265/75/16 tires. Any ideas??

I have had the same issue. After tsb 0062-18 it went away for about 1,200 miles. It's started doing it today on my way home from work. Climbing a slight grade. It was at the dealer for this twice before and they don't do anything but say they can't feel anything.

To me it feels like a shutter in the torque converter. Like it don't know if it wants to unlock or not.

Run premium fuel for about 100 miles. I bet it goes away. It's a thing some of our trucks do. Mines done it for almost 30 k miles now. It feels like the motor is lugging to me.

Doing the same with mine almost at 30K it has done this since day 1. I was hoping the new TSB would help but it didn’t. I have tried running no Ethanol gas and on my second tank but not sure. It seems a little better but not convinced yet. Mine does it between 40-60 mph low RPM. I drive about 4hrs 3 times a week and its getting old dealing with the slight miss all the time.

I hope someone figures this out. Happens to me too. On my ‘17 it feels like a very slight bucking from the rear. I initially assumed it was minor variations or bumps in the road surface and the rear solid axle and/or poor buffering by rear shocks. Not a single bump coming from the front.

Same symptoms, high gear, slight incline, usually above 55 mph on long slight grades. Random slight bucking, usually occurs in multiples, but not 100% of the time. No rpm flare, front end traveling smooth as butter across same surface. Wondered if T-SB-0023-18 applied, not for TRD though.

My truck has always done this. New TSB helped a good bit with drivability but this issue is still present. As soon as I press the gas enough to force a downshift it goes away but it seems to take a lot a lot of pedal push to do it.

    Yeah.
Wonder if this is it switching between Otto and Atkinson cycle. Hmm. It would be neat to figure out how to scan for this and show it on a ScanGauge or UltraGauge, if it's even possible.

I just spoke with Toyota USA headquarters about this. They are aware of this situation and is saying it seems to be in the tune. They are working to correct the problem. They are supposed to get back to me by the end of next week.

My truck does the same thing, I believe when its cruising around 1100 RPMs or thereabouts. Feels like a stutter or hesitation. I rented a GMC Sierra one time that did the exact same thing as well

Sounds a lot like torque converter shutter as stated before. Your dealer can hook a scan tool and manually lock/unlock the converter. Have them drive at the speed of the concern, and when the concern starts they can manually change the lock up on the converter. If it changes, then the converter is your problem.

It's not. It's the tune. Running premium fuel makes it go away. Been dealing with this for almost 30k miles.

Just took delivery on a 18 DCSB in Cement, this is my 3rd Taco and I have just under 2K miles and have the same issue. Could be an Atkinson cycle issue??? I've noticed it occurs more when it is cold (within the first 5 miles of my morning commute). I've isolated it to 5 and 6th gear at about 50-55mph cruising on flat ground, low rpm of course, feels like converter is intermittently slipping.

I'm thinking it's torque converter shutter. Which I believe is in the learning computer. If I reset it, it doesn't do it for several hundred miles.
