Same here. I have some friends that are excellent welders. One got rid of his shop, though, and just does stuff out of his garage. Could be a big ask to work on and store a smoker like this for however long the project takes.

$130 gets you the plans and the cut file. Not bad.

My friend has a commercial fridge that we are going to build him a smoker from. It will be automated (ya I know poser) propane fueled. I have all the electronics and I have the main probe probe put together. Need to get a new soldering station so I can get that finished and send everything over to him, it will run from a Raspberry Pi and have a web interface so he can monitor it. I have the probe interface laid out to take take 10 probes. 2 of which will be for internal temp probes. So he can monitor 8 other chunks of cooking meat.

No not at all. Might have to think about doing this. Wonder if my BIL can get me a discount on the metal and cutting. Only crap part is he's still in MI so it would be a long ways away.

Very nice! The original plan for my fridge was to do an electric element, raspberry pie controls/monitoring. Then Thought of doing a pellet pooper heat source. Now I'm not sure. Thinking a gravity feed box for charcoal on the backside to hide it would be pretty sweet too!

Gravity fed or pellet pooper would be awesome. Especially if you get a BIG hopper for the pooper.

No doubt. Damn now I have to learn how to paint also (well that's not entirely true I know how to paint just need to get the tools again lol). My friend and I talked about getting an old fire truck (he's a fire fighter) and turning it into a dual purpose rig, part would be smoker and part would be multi tap beer system. Would be sick.

Looks nice, where is the cut file located. Materials will be cheaper at discount steel in Saginaw, I have an account with them.

Y’all can master the wire feed very quickly, we going to buff all the welds purty any way. Painting is easy.

I have to buy the plans/cut file. $130 for all of it. I'll do that when I'm pretty well committed to the whole idea (financially or otherwise :D).

I know that place. I've bought steel from there a few times. A hell of a lot of fun to walk around that place.

I'll buy them and you can have them, plus whatever else you need from me if it means I can work alongside you to get something like this built :D.
