Hmmm how hard is it to actually do that shit? If I could get something with a 3-5 kilometer range I would be happy.

    A thing or two...
Tune isn't hard, you just need an SWR meter and some patience. The big thing is finding a large open area to tune in. Buildings or trees around a clearing will effect how good of a tune you can get.

Mounting the antenna at the back of the bed (where everyone mounts them) will skew your transmit and receive to the rear and to whichever side it's mounted on. Mounting it on the roof like @EatSleepTacos did gives the best all around TX/RX pattern.

You should be able to get the range you want with the typical setup that most people run.

I love ham over cb. It’s way more clear and the test isn’t too difficult

Oh it’s good, and cheap. $7.50 for 15 pieces freshly made. It’s in a different building so once a week I’ll shuttle over there and get it.

That's how mine is. I can tell you it's sort of a pain. And with the center console closed you can't really here the radio. You'll need to run an external pa.
