Yes. It is the size pan(s) that it can fit. I'll have to double-check the measurements, but a the double-pan should be the equivalent of a full-size hotel serving/bun pan. I have a few of those at home and can compare their size to the dimensions listed on the build.

I registered for the site, but haven't received my admin approval yet. I'll start asking away when I do :D.

I'm trying to avoid joining there as I already have a lot of distractions... but I may cave too

I think in reading more it is based on catering pans. The model we are discussing is definitely larger than I need... by a lot. but if we're gonna do it... may as well go big  maybe someday I'll build a mini version once my skillz are good enough :D

Oh, it is a VERY large cook chamber. It is nearly 3 times the surface area of my UDS with 2 racks in it. With that style, though, your fuel consumption for a small cabinet isn't much different than for a big one. The difference will be in the up-front cost, much more so than in the continued cost of running it. When you want to cook a LOT of food - even if just semi-annually - that real estate will be real nice. At least, that's how I'm rationalizing it :D.

I'll still have a drum or two for poppers and such, but even just two racks of ribs in the big one will be roughly the same fuel as in a small one. And when you get Kingsford for $5/bag... Just saying ;).

Good timing on all of this. It sounds like the double-pan version will be available in a complete kit by this weekend. We could buy everything needed for assembly at once, have it shipped to @Bigdaddy4760 's shop, then do the assembly there. Fingers crossed it comes out cheaper than adding in the process of buying steel separately and having it cut.

    I deserved that one.

We did a lot of great things this weekend with the mystery rub, so I might be a little more confident rolling it out :D.

Oh I'm already justified on the larger one  It's all just up front costs...

super interested in how this prices out... Gonna go out on a limb and say it'll be cheaper to DIY it all, but the convenience of a complete kit is enticing!

Found it, still want to price it out and compare, shipping might kill us. Did you see where it would ship from?

I think the guy running it is from Missouri. The "Contact Us" page where the plans are purchased shows a Missouri address, too.

There are multiple posts throughout the subforum of people pegging the cost of parts (assuming you acquire/cut yourself) at around $1,500 or so.

The guy releasing the kits said they will be "shockingly affordable". I'm taking that with the grain of salt required when listening to someone trying to make a sale, but who knows how much he thinks the effort of buying/cutting steel is worth to people?

The kit will save a lot of material chasing down. But will compare. I would expect to be under 1K for materials.
