The tech I talked to Saturday seemed very knowledgeable. He thinks they all have it but the ones that keep their foot in the throttle more don’t notice as much.

I can feel it do it at any speed in any gear as long as I'm light on the throttle and the rpms are low, like sub 1500 RPM.

That makes sense. I don't feel it at 4000 rpm lol.

The key is light on the throttle, or as my tech says, driving it for mileage.

Does it feel like a plug wire is off? Or fouling out? Ive ran premium to see if it goes away, but Toyota said premium isn't required. Maybe Ill try again to see if it helps.

My truck occasionally does that hard downshift and I don't have the tsb. My truck has done it twice in two years. I swore the first time I got rear-ended at the light.

Have the feeling of someone hitting me in ass when stopping, too! They said that was 'normal' behavior. I call bullshit. But have learned to live with the rearend isssue if I could get the 'miss' to go away!

I originally used regular gas when I bought my truck. After awhile I switched to premium and ran that for around a year or so and completely forgot about this issue until I switched back to regular for some reason. I'd be very skeptical of what toyota says. My experience tells me they are wrong.

Yep. That's the feeling. I'm also getting some shifts that just aren't smooth. Not sure how to describe it exactly. Almost as if there's a slight mashing of gears or something. Especially after breaking slightly and then accelerating again.

Serious concerns here about the longevity of this transmission if it keeps knocking like this.

They indeed say it’s notrequired but they don’t have to drive my truck on regular fuel. My truck doesn’t perform well on regular.

Too bad Toyota has it setup for economy. I have a hard time blaming the user when it does it at the speed limit and low RPM.

That's the weird thing. If you drive it with a light foot, it's all fine. But if you don't, you're gonna have mashing of gears or something.

    Totally unacceptable.

I agree. My statement/question to the tech - “so you’re telling me that because I’m easy on my truck, I’m getting the missing feeling?” He said it shouldn’t be that way but it is.

Mine has done this since day one. I researched and others have this issue also. It has been suggested to use gas with 0-ethanol. I started doing that and after the 2nd full tank the issue is almost totally gone. However someone else on this forum has spoken with corporate and they said they are aware of this issue and they are trying to find a fix for it. They sent someone in to drive his truck. I’m waiting on the response.

There were 43 new 2018's sitting at the back of my dealers lot last week

Totally out of sight unless you drove around back. There were 5 parked out front.

They better get these trucks fixed. Ford will be here for the Sport crowd and Jeep for the OR and Pro crowd. My son’s Cherokee Trailhawk shifts butter smooth and it’s a 9 speed. Toyota is struggling with a 6 speed.

The bump when stopping should go away after about 5K miles. Both Tacomas I’ve had has done this and both cleared up.

Just picked up my truck and had the TSB....feels like a completely different truck. So glad I did it.

Now I just need to figure out why my AC blower fan sounds like a damn lawn mower? It seems to be moving more air than before I dropped it off but I never had the loud noises. Anyone know what gives?

I recently heard something about a recall on some of our blower motors.
