I drive a 86 mile commute 5-6 days a week and I have an auto TRD sport double cab. I love it. We see 10-14 inches of snow per year in the Mid-Atlantic, which is why I bought a 4x4.

That is wild about the insurance. Mine is only shown as Toyota Tacoma on my policy, doesn’t say anything about trim level and my insurance only went up marginally per month.

Yep .. my wife bitched. Not sure if it was the 4x4 or the Sport part. It jumped. I haven’t t had a ticket in a dozen yrs. my prerunner said Tacoma.

I just got a quote from 2 other companies saving over $200. I sent a email to my insurance rep and told him 30 yrs with this company if they don’t match the quote I’m pulling all my business... Home , cars, etc. I’m sure they’ll be like the cable company and say thanks but our rates are our rates.
Ha.. he’s on vacation till Monday..

Nice looking truck. It will look really cool if you tint the front side windows to match the rear color wise. You should be able to have that done in a quality ceramic for <$175

I went with the OR mainly because I don't like the Sport wheels and second I like the black fender flairs. Price being equal I felt I was getting a more value for the money but, that's just my opinion. Didn't like the softer ride at first after having my 07 sr5 with Bilstiein 5100s but I adjusted to it and like it.

I went OR over Sport for these reasons:
    1. Sport hood scoop is UGLY
    2. Like the black fender flares of the OR over painted Sport
    3. Suspension, bilsteins yes please
    4. Larger tires. Bought a truck not a passenger car pretending to be one

That's ~10% between my wife and I've seen greater than 20% difference in mileage just between driving style.

That said I figured the sport would edge out the OR but picked the OR for the suspension, smaller wheels (better ride with more sidewall) and the locker

I picked the manual because after owning a manual of on sort or another and then an automatic I wanted a manual again.

I'm only into my first tank after the new is wearing off* and getting a pretty solid 20mpg. I'm not convinced that the automatic would be as good in my case.

*A few hundred miles of beakib then a road trip home towing a snowmobile, and hauling a load of household goods from where I bought the truck

Been very pleased with my new Tacoma all around...came from NO TECH Tundra that had old world charm and 16MPG at BEST... Tacoma TRD Off-Road AT just blows the Tundra away (elephant in the room is still the V8)...

If I could do it again I would get and SR5 4x4 and save the money. I love my OR but I rarely use the advanced features it comes with.

I almost chose that option, ANY Tacoma SR5, Sport, Off-Road, Limited and PRO are all SOLID and a great truck to own. Though for a 3K savings for a DCLB SR5 while losing the MANY options PREM TECH e.g. keyless entry, start, 120V outlet (at least in all the ones I looked at), tire upgrades, better suspension, nicer rims, skid plate(s)..removal of the air damn and as you know that is just a start...just did not make sense.

I am guessing he means the smaller wheel size equals bigger sidewalls on the tires.

I hear ya. All valid points. However the SR5 DCSB 4x4 was a bit over 6K cheaper if I remember right. I do remember it didn’t have the Prem Tech package but my OR does.

Anybody else think when people say “rims” they immediately think of these:

I’m sorry. I insist on calling them “wheels”. Full disclaimer: I also cringe when people call gun magazines, “clips”.
