What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Front one is already high enough in the engine bay, but the back sits right on the axle/differential. If it is hot and hits water it will cool super quick and suck in water. That is how I understand it. If it does, you need to consider changing the oil inside the differential to remove contaminants/grime.

It's more of a piece of mind thing.

I got my truck two weeks before Hurricane Irma. I was already on these forums and knew about this cheap mod. We got flooded into our housing development at the front of the development and I couldn't leave for 2 days. If I would have had this mod done, I would have got out without worry. It was water above my axle, but below the doors. Better prepared than not.

I put it behind the tail light though since the cubbies aren't water proof.

If you zoom in and look close the plasti dip is almost the same color as the truck. Very close match.

 

Alamo Toyota is the worst. When I had a Scion, they pretended like they couldn’t hear my AC compressor squealing to get out of replacing it when it was under warranty. Seriously. Stay clear of those fools.

I always went to Toyota of Boerne. They have a much nicer crew and dealership. Plus fee food and fountain drinks in the waiting room. Lol. But they also squared my car away quick and always cleaned it up when they were done.

 

When I lived in San Antonio, we always took our cars to Cavenders. They were close to the base and always polite and professional.

I see what you did there...you mounted it in the spare tire crank hole.

 

Actually the factory breather design is the problem. when you hit cold water and the 3rd member is hot rapid cool down takes place and the breather closes to prevent water from entering OK good that is what it is suppose to do. what is bad is the 3rd member continues to cool down the breather is shut and a vacuum now is present inside the third member the outside pressure will find a way in typical location is the axle seals and at the pinion seal so if you are still in water Hello water inside 3rd member and if happens repeatedly oil leakage can start.

 

Hope you never need that spare on the road.....

 

I was Lazy I only mounted the Phone holder inside the truck today it took awhile to settle on best spot for my phone it is very secure does not bounce around get in the way of anything and very inexpensive (Costco sell em)

 

Installed my caliraised light bar... was a total bitch... but very happy with how it turned out

 

I like mine but was just trying to adjust the alignment. Total PITA if you don't get it right on the install.

 

Hello Everyone, I realize this is probably not the right thread to ask the question but I figured it was one of the most active and thus I likely to get the most responses.

Anyway, I want your advice and suggestions on the following.

Currently own a 16 Tacoma Sport, long bed, white with less than 6k miles. Yes correct, less than 6k. I baby the truck and mostly use my FJ and my old 1st gen Tacoma as my daily commuter. My 16 Taco also has the premium and tech packages, fairly loaded. Here is the deal, I am getting a trade in offer from one from of my local dealers for 31k for my 16 Taco. I love my truck and am pretty picky about the specs. It has to be a Sport Long bed and white. The dealer has a 18 Sport, long bed white, pretty much the same truck with a sticker price of 36.5 but after some negotiating they have dropped the price down to 32.5. In essence I would be upgrading from a 16 to an 18 for only $1,500. The only difference being that the 18 does not have the premium package, so no moon roof, heated seats, dual air control, etc. But as you all know the 18 has the TSS.

Question would you move forward and upgrade from a 16 to an 2018 for only $1500? Again my 2016 baby only has less than 6k miles. I feel like I am cheating on my truck just by thinking of trading her in, lol. Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

 

Nice, congrats! I bought a new set of wheels from that model 4Runner and am still debating on putting them on my 16 Tacoma Sport. They sure look nice on the 4runners!

Speaking from personal experience the "fairy" premium was my only non negotiable i wanted the sun roof leather and dual zone ac jbl etc. I was open to different colors or sport over offroad basically whatever i could get the best deal on but had to have premium. Ended up getting my 1st choice in color and trim with the OR. I certainly would not pay to downgrade

All depends on if you can live without those upgrades. I don't really want tss si I'm glad I got a 17. While it sounds like a good deal you still basically have a new truck with all the options. If you like having them then keep them. If you like the idea of tss for family safety that might be the way to go.
