After owning 8 different JK's from 2008 to 2016, the only way I would consider a new JL is if they offer a 5.7L with MT. Almost converted my 2016 but cost was around $30K. 3.6L is junk!

Do you drive the Gelandewagen? I was wondering how the drivetrain compares to the one in the Wrangled.

I'm thinking that a proper LandCruiser would be more like a Gelandewagen, than a Wrangler.

I wonder how many of us will consider trading once the Jeep Wrangler pickup comes out :anonymous:

Ahhh:annoyed: I just need to get both

I've driven a Ram 4500 4wd, that wonders, the 2wd 4500s I've driven don't wonder like the 4wd. This could be specific to this particular truck, it's the only 4wd 4500 I've driven, I don't have another to compare it with.

Had a 94' Sahara and an 02' Sport, both with modifications. There's nothing better than a convertible 4X4, but they are terrible on long trips, and so much less practical than a truck. Great second vehicle as a toy if you can afford it though.

I'd buy a Ridgeline before I'd buy a factory Wrangler pickup. I find it ugly, and the canvas roof is sure to leak.

The aftermarket converted Wranglers I do like. The new one looks terrible.

    Different strokes for different folks

I haven’t seen a factory one yet. Only the conversions. I just assumed they would look similar.

Feel free to educate me tho! I love a good pic/link

Check this thread, it's the only pic I've seen. It's a four door, which does not help. I'm not a fan of Jeeps, and when the traditional jeep design is adapted to current vehicle design, I find them less appealing.

Interesting that the “Jeep Forum” seems to be activity watching our tacomaworld forum so closely over the last several days. The “ Jeep Wave” must be getting boring. :mudding::oldglory:

Traded my TRDOR for a 2 door JK after 4 months. Tacoma is a beautiful truck, but trans and seating did it for me.

Most of my issues with my Wrangler JK would have been better in the unlimited (zero storage, wonder like hell on the highway) but the cheap build quality and bad reliability would be the same.

Also, and I know a lot of people won’t agree—but I would never buy a 4 door Wrangler. Wranglers are 2 doors. The vast majority of 4 door wranglers I see are soccer moms and dads that will never off-road the thing (funny because these are the ones that are always lifted). They’re embarrassing to me and don’t look right. I would be fine with my wife driving one but I wouldn’t be caught in a 4 door Wrangler.

I considered a Jeep before I got my Tacoma. The thing that sold me on the Jeep was the airbags or lack thereof in the Jeep. I couldn't live with myself if I got tboned and a kid died in the backseat because there weren't any airbags back there.

Id probably mob the new JL but thats about it. If I did drive a jeep it would no doubt have to be a rubicon

I had a 2013 2 door Jeep and my girlfriend currently has a 2016 4 door. I loved My Jeep It was super reliable never did anything besides routine maintance and a front sway bar but that was because I was being dumb. I would love to do another 2 door if my funds allow it the only reason I went with a Tacoma instead of a new JL is practicality my Tacoma will pretty much take me anywhere my Jeep used to go but it’ll be a nice comfortable ride the way there.

And they always seem to have all they highest dollar gee-whiz stuff on them although that stuff will never see it's intended use.

    That question doesn’t make sense.

I want a truck so why is a Wrangler an alternative?

    Its not a truck.

I would consider it for my SO as a car. He wants one but we don’t off road. I don’t find taking vehicles worth tens of thousands of dollars out to get scratched and dented to be fun.
I can get more places faster by hiking or trail running.

I was so close on pulling the trigger on a JL Rubicon, since i have family provide me employee pricing, but it came down to it being nearly 10k more expensive (how I wanted it configured), the utility of a truck to haul and tow, and FCA’s reliability track record.

Not going to deny that those JL Rubicon’s are incredibly badass.
