Planned the rest of 2018 out with the wife - both in terms of time and money.

    Been drinking whiskey since.

I need to take the leap. Will do the smoker and start looking at trailers, too.

Provided we get the raw material cost to a reasonable level (sub $2k?), I'm in.

How does the GF work? I know the gravity part, not sure on the feed part. Need to research this. I like the idea, and could use some more rack space.

fire is at bottom of pile so as it burns, ash falls through grates and new charcoal starts to burn. Opposite of putting charcoal in a basket and putting lit coals on top.

I’m an expert now after reading a bunch of stuff.

Coal tube is airtight, oxygen only present at the bottom, allowing the coal to burn at the bottom, and preventing a chimney like scenario. Ashes drop down through grate and burn the flavor wood below. This is channeled into the cook chamber, etc.

I like this concept, and am thinking of a way to mod my ok joe into a GF.

Have a couple more pages to go yet here, but have to stop. Tomorrow is a school day. Will catch up later. In the meantime have signed up for a new website and am having dreams of a french door fridge converted to a smoker. One side for jerky. The other for Salmon. And a single PID controller for both. But there are other options too. Bastages! :D

Damn right brother! Photography challenge this week is backyard. Welcome to my backyard.

25 yards from my deck, chip shot with the bow. And do have shooting lanes cut but don't want to drag the Sum of a beaches out of the ravine anymore.

Yeah something special about Charleston... Agree. And please stop spending my money for me LOL! Well it is all for a worthy cause.

    Tonight's dinner

For a gasser turned out well. But very fine line where charcoal wins. With steak, everything else be hard pressed to tell the difference.

Can't even open one of my garage doors because the Kingsford fell against it. Didn't pick any up last weekend because figured I have enough. But not so sure now.

Not that it was bad, and was better than most including high end restaurants. But can be better and it is IMO with charcoal. Even Kingsford. On a Weber LOL.
