How high up the Jeep was the water? I've personally never seen a road flooded enough to risk choking out my engine. The water would need to be 3 and a half feet deep to reach the stock intake (on my truck). If there is any current in water that deep, you'll need to be careful because at that point, a portion of your doors are well under water also and give a lot of surface area to push your truck downstream. That all being said, if you maintain momentum through the water and create a bow wave in front of the truck, you should be okay for most water crossings. It's when you stop and allow the water to dissipate around the truck that you can run into problems.

I didn't get a snorkel with aspirations to turn my truck into a submarine, but rather to scoop less dusty air and prevent an "oops" moment if I end up nose down in a puddle that ends up deeper than it looked (always good to carry a calibrated tree branch in the bed to test water depth before you drive through!). It just so happens that I think the snorkel looks cool too :)

I say just go for it. You can always sell the snork and buy another fender if you screw it up.

You see that on Facebook too?

I always tell my wife if I was single I'd be living in a lifted 4x4 travel van. She tells me I have too many tools to do that. She's probably right.

6.5 Creedmoor is an awesome caliber. Got it in both an AR10 and an X-Bolt back home. I shoot the Hornady Precision Hunter and Full Boar ammo out of both guns and they are accurate. I intend to set up an 800-1000 meter range for some practice with those rifles. The rifle and scope are capable of hitting targets that far out, but I am not....yet! :) Got to wait until after deer season to do that though. You will love that caliber. Good for reaching out and taking down nearly anything in North America.

That's what I've read. I hardly ever make long shots like that or even the land to. Farthest ive killed a deer from was 500yds with a 270, went right through the heart.

I’d call 500yd a long shot. I’m not sure I would attempt a kill shot on an animal much farther than 500. A clean kill becomes risky past that point for the average hunter, unless you happen to be a military sniper

Yeah I normally wouldn't have had a chance at a shot like that but I was at my cousins farm and I thought I was shooting at a nice big buck because I had seen one run out and my cousin was sitting there spotting for me and he said he seen it too. I was rested on some haybales and just wanted to see if I could even get close and I ask my cousin if he cared if I shot at it and he said no go for it, you're not going to get anywhere near it. I wouldn't try it with a 270 again. Maybe a 30-06

Oct 19-21. I won't be able to make this one but it's a great time riding some trails and getting to know people. I won a 48" Hi-Lift Extreme in the Bonfire raffle.

    https://www.naturalstateoverland.org/rendezvous-in-the-ozarks-info

It's also the weekend of the fly-in so I guess you have your choice of transportation for the weekend.

Edit: Picture of the Hi-Lift and my PIC.

Ah, cool thanks for the link. I'd elect to drive. If I flew, I wouldn't be able to bring any gear with me!
