No offense to anyone that lives there, but with the HSV city schools bussing and lack of new jobs the whole east side is declining. In 10 years Huntsville will be like Atlanta and Madison will be like Marietta.

madison doesn't have enough sq ft. to be anything worth a fart to me.

not sure how you think HSV is lacking in new jobs....

Huntsville has plenty of new jobs...but 99% are west of the Arsenal. The whole appeal of Madison/Athens/East Limestone and even Hartselle is a separate school system. That way you don't buy a 250K house in Jones Valley and have your kids bussed to Colombia HS. If you don't have kids and work on base then sure, that area has some good spots.

I love going to Havoc games, but I hate having to deal with driving 45 minutes downtown and dealing with the cluster of blocked and one way streets. Putting the stadium in Madison will centrally locate it in the coming years and prevents having to buy downtown property.

I agree that HSV is growing and its already been said that within the next 3-5 years HSV will be the biggest city in the state. But the only explanation for that is the growth of more jobs, not lack.

Yep, HSV landlocked Madison a few years ago and there was a shitshow of fits thrown when that happened. HSV is expected to annex OXR and possibly NH within the next few years and the immediate plans for the future seem to be preparing for the inevitable. I, myself, am not a huge fan of big cities...especially growing up in Scottsboro. But Ive had family live in HSV my whole life so I don't know that it will ever feel like a big city like ATL to me. It has turned into a true PITA to go out to Bridgestreet on a weekend night.

Unfortunately, the bussing stuff will be here for the duration. That started quite a few years ago when kids were getting bussed from North parkway around AAMU to Hampton Cove. I will never understand this either. If I have to struggle to live in an area for my kids to go to a certain nice school, so should anyone else. But, that's too political for this thread so I'm gonna stop that right there.

On a weekend evening with the traffic, it takes me a good 40-45 minutes to get to Bridgestreet from my house. I just said its a PITA, doesn't mean I'm not gonna continue to do it, haha

Greystone is a secluded island. Takes 15 minutes just to get out of the neighborhood. Lol

I may or may not have gone to elementary school there...

Yep. I would rather deal with the PITA drive/traffic than move to the other side of the mountain. That may change in the future but I doubt it. I have also heard rumors that Jones Valley/Hampton Cove will be getting a smaller type of Bridgestreet type town center in the next few years as well. HSV in general is going to look quite different in the coming years.

yeah absolutely, but where Brian and I are at is "completely" developed. Unless somebody starts forking out BIG MONEY...these houses aren't going anywhere. I'll stick with that.
