Yes, I use it fairly often on longer drives. Don’t realize how much better the sound is than streaming, Bluetooth, or XM. Try it. Stream your favorite song and then pop in the cd right after and you will notice the difference. The sound has so much more clarity. Just my $0.02.

This Camry lets me change songs, but it won't let me go to artist selection while the car is moving!

Camry's have been "nanny state" cars since at least 2007. My friend drove his mom's 2007 Camry Hybrid when he first got his license, and it had GPS. Whenever we'd drive around, I would be the copilot, but the damn car wouldn't allow the GPS to be used while the car was moving! When you had a passenger in the car so the driver wouldn't get distracted, it made you want to put your fist through the navigation display!

    Rarely, but yes...

My primary source of income is detailing cars at a dealership, but I work part-time as a barback at a night club to make extra money. One of the fringe benefits is getting free CDs from the typically quite good bands who come through our venue, and I like to listen to these in my truck while driving home after a long shift...

I don't really like Bluetooth or streaming. I prefer a direct connection via USB or 3.5mm AUX, a CD player, or in the case of Kermit, my uncle's '71 VW Bus (yes, that's me driving; I'm under 30, I'm on the autism spectrum, and I can drive stick; I am quite proud of this fact)...

Exactly! Another reason to absolutely loathe factory sound systems...

The last truly decent pre-iPod (no hookups, CD only) factory sound system I heard was the Harman Kardon system in my dad's 2002 BMW 325 convertible. After that, it was the 6-speaker CD/cassette combo in my mom's 2004 Honda Odyssey minivan. I just want a system that allowed to me to put in a CD or plug an iPod into a USB and get booming quality sound!

I’m the same way. I don’t like having to connect via bluetooth or something.
Direct plug in or CDs is how I roll.

    @Thompson486

My Taco came from the factory with a sound system that, in my opinion, was akin to an interactive Fisher Price child's toy in terms of quality. Now, my sound system destroys the factory system in my friend's $225,000 Audi RS8!

    Nice!
I’d replace my sound system if I could afford it.

Yes, at least my SR5 has it. That said, while it's nice, there's not much need for it since it has USB where I have ALL my stuff.

    However,

This is exactly why I got rid of the Boss BV960N after less than a year...

All I saw was a $250 head unit with built-in GPS and neglected to read the fine print. The bastard DID NOT have built-in iPod control despite having a USB port. The USB port was useless, and as you can see in this picture I used an AUX cord.

I'm giving the Boss to another friend with Aspergers who finally got his learner's permit, to install in the 2009 Chevy Cobalt his parents gave him. He doesn't mind not having a USB port as much as I do...

Yeah the USB port is about the only tech I like on new vehicles... I could live with pretty minimal tech.

Also, comparing any entry-level Chevrolet product to any entry-level Toyota product (Corolla vs. Cobalt or ANY Tacoma vs. 1st Gen Colorado/Canyon, for example) is a lot like comparing a Rolls-Royce to a Yugo...

The car is only worth like five grand and my friend intends on trading it in the near future. This is just your classic "starter car"...

It has cold A/C and it gets him from Point A to Point B...

I wonder how an 8-track player would sound connected to my system?

Real good, so long as you have the obligatory "book of matches" to wedge under the tape to adjust tracking. (We'll see just how old you are with this one...)

Yes I use my CD player, mostly when I’m out of range of the normal stations I listen to. I could pay $5 a month for sat radio or figure out all that new damn fanglled crap you youngin’s do with your phones but screw it! CD’s sound great. When I test drove my Taco the salesman (I think he was about twelve) says “wow they still put CD’s in these!”, I looked at him like, well duh, why the hell wouldn’t they!

    Never heard of that technique...

I used my Grandpa's home 8-track receiver to play my dad's old tapes, but I never had a problem with tape tracking...
