Hey folks, I’ve got a 17 double cab, long wheelbase that I’m having an issue with. It’s less than two years old, but has 75k on the odometer so I am outside of warranty. Yesterday I noticed water pouring in from under the headliner near the window. I brought it into the dealership this morning and they confirmed that it is the seal on the 3rd brake light causing the problem. They quoted 3k to repair and replace the headliner and carpet or $600 to repair and replace the headliner.

I’ve read that several others have had this problem. Has anyone had any success getting any sort of support or goodwill from Toyota on this? I’ve currently got an escalated case with their senior customer service dept. They are talking with the dealer but I don’t get the impression that they are going to want to help.

    Any thoughts?

    Welcome,

We have a lot of members with this issue but as far as I know everyone has had it replaced under warranty. The fact that it is so common Toyota should honor the repair. When mine was replaced they didnt need to do anything with the floor or liner, they just replaced the light with a new seal.

Worst case, you can silicone the outside edge of the light.

Hey folks, just an update. By being polite but persistent I was able to get my headliner and brake light replaced for free from Toyota. No luck on all the carpet and seats that were wetted though...
