265/75R16. It's fine at that size and possibly up to 285's
I'd still like to have my old 4.10's from the red taco into this one. It's got something like 3.93 from the factory.

You're looking for a 4 door 1st gen? What kind of trails are you looking at running?

I had a 2000 access cab and a 2005 4 door. The 2005 is the newer/more powerful version of the 4.7, it didn't feel much better than the 2000. The transmission in the 2005 is supposed to be way stronger than the 2000. My 2000 access cab was able to stay around 18mpg where the 05 stayed around 14. If I get another Tundra it will be an early 1st gen access cab or jump up to the 2nd gen.

My 2000 never really had any issues 4 wheeling. The 2005 suffered frame failures around the steering rack and would need some serious bracing to stop that. The 2005 had a lot more frame flex than the 2000, the bed touched the cab a couple times wheeling.

If I was going to do an off road slide in camper build I'd look into late 90s Dodge or Ford 3/4 ton with a solid axle so you're not above GVWR before you add any accessories. I think it could be done with a 2nd gen Tundra but tall bedsides make it hard to find a used camper.

    Flexy frames, hmm. :/

Trails will be nothing more than a 5 rating..if not less. Anything that requires driving slower than hiking on foot speed will be explored in something else. The main goal of the rig will be to finish the road trip i started before, a bunch of miles for months at a time. So being dependable and decent on gas for 10k miles down to Baja will be it's main goal. I like the idea of an older diesel, but since I've never worked on one, they are pretty foreign to me as far as troubleshooting if something broke in the middle of the desert somewhere.

Added some overload coils today. I think they are around 500 pound capacity.
These were originally on the Tacoma shortly after I bought it due to the common frowny face leaf springs with many miles. They were on there right up until I installed the OME kit.

I test fitted them before I got the camper, and with no load they were about an inch away from the leaf pack, so they shouldn't affect the rid too much when unloaded. It's only one bolt and a few minutes to remove them.

As it was, the leaf pack still had a tiny rake and they rode ok but there was a bit of spring wrap and some unwanted tilt in the corners. Rides pretty good now, still soft but firmer in the corners. Should be about right i hope when I load it with stuff.

The garden hose is so they don't make noise.

    Before.

After. Added just a slight bit of rake.

Anyone know a muffler shop near Westminster they would recommend for an exhaust reroute? Found a few online with good reviews and not bad prices. ~$120-$150
