Definitely try installing and loading TS first. That was really the most difficult part, esp on our old computer.

Wow, but different MFG have different update schemes. I know that it was extremely difficult on our Volvo. The dealer had to DL a license from the mothership for everything. They were a good, honest place that I still recommend on the service side, which is saying A LOT!

 

Whoever came up with the borrowing idea. I think it’s great but sketchy because you never know who you deal with. That being said. Anyone in SoCal, specifically around Huntington Beach, would be willing to borrow the cable. Of course there will be $$

I think we had a very fair arrangement when I borrowed the cable. I'd do it again with other TW folks in a heartbeat.

Yeah I hit a roadblock last night. I could get it on the computer, but it wouldn’t install. I’m not in a rush so I didn’t freak out. It’s on a cheaper computer but it has Windows 10 which is supposed to still work.

When I would click on the icon it was a PDF and it gave me some message about not being valid or something.

 

Not good. You might want to try looking for a TS thread. Folks might be able to help diagnose that issue?

 

I'll be in the Glendale area today, and East LA next week. Yeah, it's long haul from where you are... but I'm further away on the weekends.

 

I went to page 40 or so and tried getting to the thread posted there. Not sure if that the correct one or not but that’s how I did it.

I tried finding some definitive thread, but that was the best that I could find.

Maybe post up some screen dumps of the problem that you are having and the folks in this or that other thread might be able to help?

 

Will try this out when I get home. I’ll post up a pic if it doesn’t work out. What type of file was it displaying when you downloaded it?

I thought maybe it downloaded in the wrong format or something. It was saying PDF but I don’t know if that’s how it’s supposed to look. It downloaded fine but wouldn’t install correctly.

 

Oh! I think I see the problem. You are talking about the filed you downloaded from obdii360.com? That was a .RAR file. It is a more restricted version of a .ZIP file. If that is the case, let me know and I can PM you a link to the unzipped files in my Google Drive.

I have them on my Dropbox too if @tonered 's GD doesn't work for you.

 

Install 7zip to open the .rar (and basically any other type of compressed) file. Totally free, so there are no nag screens about purchasing it every time you use it.

 

How far away from Ventura?

 

Does anyone have experience with this error? I have tried Win 7 x86 and Win 10 x64 as well as two different versions of Techstream, including 13.20.017. I suspect my problem is either user error or the cable, which is a cheap xhorse cable from eBay. The cable and software worked fine for programming a new smart key. Any help would be appreciated.
