With the fast setup and closing, I'd be tempted to give it a shot in some ridiculous weather.

This may be obvious but I wanted to ask.

When the GFC was created it was done so for the Tacoma. They offered neutral colors such as black and white. My question is, why didnt they use a black or a white that color matched the Tacomas?

While it's true that the majority of the early units have been for the Tacoma, I don't think it was ever planned to be a one-truck company. The original pre-sale included support for Canyon/Colorado and several other trucks if I recall correctly. In addition, they were pretty clear about being open to making campers for other models if there was modest interest (maybe as few as 6?).

I think they picked basic colors that would avoid having to order more expensive custom powder coat costs, keeping our price reasonable.

Knowing how you feel about the price of them already - I don't think you would want anything that would drive it up further - but custom colors are an option.

It does look like I’m the only one who opted for no windows....

Hopefully i don’t regret that but i was planning on a wireless backup camera off my GFC’s extrusion to an iPad mini.

I guess worst case it’s “possible” to add a window or two, but i really didn’t want the solar radiation (heat) or glass for anyone to see through. My hope was to make it look like a contractor truck (more or less) around town.

I'm only getting the front window because to retrofit that window would require removing the camper. I like to be able see into the cab, through the front window and get the extra light without the solar load. It would be relatively easy to retrofit a rear window. I plan to run a wireless rear view camera too.

If they come out with the kit I'd be interested for sure. Not sure how effective it is at -40° but I'd find out.

If I get windows I may only get a front window just so I can see the gear from inside the cab. I will also be getting a backup camera thanks to @Ralston suggestion

Heard the same thing, which is one of the reasons I have a very hard time taking their opinions/advice on that (and other) product(s) without a massive grain of biased salt.

I opted for no windows too. To solve the dilemma I’m planning on installing this: https://www.rearviewsafety.com/safe...ror-monitor-no-multiplexer-rvs-776619-nm.html. Should work on a taco too with some light wiring skills.

I think you'll appreciate not having windows. I have them on my red one because we use it in photos and wanted to show the options. And I do think the windows look good. However, I preferred the one I took to Baja for testing that didn't have windows. Especially useful if you camp in parking lots frequently like I do. And it does make a big difference in temperature (lower), which my dog appreciates :) The topper portion stays pretty cool in the sun without windows since it has effectively 4.5" of insulation on the roof (Roof panel, mattress, floor panel).

He must be driving similar to how I will have to be in November. Hoping to get to the GFC shop in just under 60hrs (including sleeping, stops, and the total 31hr drive from Macon, Ga).

In other news, finally decided to lift the truck after going to the South core banks and driving rutted sand roads and whoops at 25mph fully loaded down with gear and an RTT (350-400lbs). Wife agreed we needed suspension and was cool with the purchase so that our GFC install trip this November will be more enjoyable (we were constantly hitting bump stops and bouncing in the cab). The final preparations are almost done and my GFC goes into Production in a few weeks.
