But pelfrey is atleast letting people know. I dont really care eother way though. If I was to purchase armor, it would be Relentless. But I'm a DIY kind of guy.

:boom: company bit off more than they could chew. It seems most armor companies are in the same boat with all the Instagram overlanders out there now. Everyone and their brother has a 5th gen 4runner with armor, and a roof tent. Yet they all manage to stay scratch free too...

yeah, found that thread, was reading it a little.

Not the first time I've seen that happen. Honestly not surprised.

My take is that most companies aren't really in it to be nice to people or be your friend despite their website saying "customer service is #1" or whatever. It's a business, they sell stuff, people buy stuff. If that business goes under, they cut their losses and eject, then let the lawyers and banks deal with it (that's why you incorporate).

Personally, I've never been one to jump on a bandwagon of "buy from these guys they have a super cool widget" especially when there's a 6 month wait list. Not only am I impatient and want my stuff sooner, it's also (obviously) a sign they can't keep up with demand. That goes on long enough and it's clear they can't even expand their business to keep up with a known demand.

I think the only way to be successful at selling armor for Jeeps/Tacos/4Runners etc, would be to have a set product line, little to no custom orders. Build stuff in batches and then release it in small sales. Think of the way SCS sells their wheels. Dont take orders, just build your product and collect payment before it ships. Customers just have to jump on it when the product batches are released. Its sad, but the demand is too high for these small shops to keep up. I think addicted offroad really scaled back their product lineup for this reason.

Only other thing that gets scary with that is overhead goes way up there. I'm not a business guy.

Tesla does the same shit except they haven't gone under and the build quality isn't all there. Tesla cucks are a weird bunch

Yeah, but its 6 to one half dozen the other. It seems most of these companies just rely on sheer demand and still go under. If I started a company doing bumpers, it would be weld it yourself kits only ie: northwest trail innovations and Flatlands 4x4. All I need is a CNC plasma table and 3/16" plate. Easier to ship and I dont have to powdercoat.

While I see your point, I don't really think that's a fair comparison...

On the one hand, you have dudes with welders making bumpers (not exactly rocket science)

On the other you have a company that is attempting things that haven't been done before, and certainly not on that scale

It really depends on the product you are trying to put out. Whole ton of ways to do it, but how you described is how I would go about it. Do a production run. If you do need it welded. Contract the work out to a welding place and you provide the jigs so the parts are made correctly.

This place never did WIY just for purposes of quality control. They never went for the DIY look. Kinda like the lexus of bumpers. You won't find one of those bumpers that someone decided to hit with a stick welder or maybe didn't get welded up true.
