I knew they looked long. I was confused at first. Bummer.

Don’t drop bracket shocks just have an extended rod end? Should be able to replace them with stock size unless the actual shocks are longer.

    Hey fellas,

My girlfriend is a student at Samuel Merritt for nursing and is in a bind with her commute. I am trying to find a cheap commuter car so that she can get to and from school during the week as well as to and from work on the weekends.

If anyone has a vehicle that is in good running condition, I would like to see if we can take a look at it. Her budget is around $2,000. I know it's not much but tuition at Samuel Merritt isn't cheap! Please let me know what might be available!

My wife also went to nursing school at Samuel Merritt and yes it’s not cheap but it’s definitely worth it.

Definitely. She is working part time at an elder care home just to get something on her resume too. She's in her final year of school so having 3 different clinical rotations and then her preceptorship on top of her normal classes and work is going to be stressful. This car situation isn't helping at all so I offered to help find her something for the remainder of the school year.

We just had our first son when my wife started so we decided it was best to just bite the bullet and fork out the $ for the one year program. It was a very stressful 1 year but 1 month after she graduated she landed a job in the icu at children’s and has been there 10 yrs now.

Good luck with your car search. You guys should be able to find something for 2k.

I am going to check out a camry not too far away from work. Good thing about Orinda/Moraga/Lafayette folk is you know they have the money to fix their cars up.

I was looking into that 1 year intensive nursing course but that price tag was insane.

RN, BSN's are flooding the market now, from what I hear from other friends who've attended SMU they are having a tough time finding work. IDK if its because they are just being picky or what. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to when she graduates and gets pinned.

I'm looking forward to it as well. My lady is in her last year at Dominican University and she is all over the place for clinical. Santa Rosa for clinical one day, SF General the next day, non-stop. Hopefully she can make that good RN money right out of school. Lol

Yeah it’s cuz a lot of hospitals don’t hire new grads.

Sounds just like what we are going through! Originally they were going to send her to SF but she lives in Antioch. Then they changed her to Pleasanton, THEN they changed her back to Oakland.

I'll ask my girl if any of her friends are ready to mingle. Not nurses yet, but close, so you may need to pay for shit for at least the next year until they graduate......

Yup and these new grads want to work at the best hospitals. They don't want to get their hands dirty working county hospitals getting experience or they don't want to move outside of their comfy "yuppie" apartment. My gf and I already made the plan if she were to get a job outside of the Bay Area then we would work with finding a place elsewhere.

Yup EXACTLY what my lady deals with. It's so bad that even now, as her last year kick off last week, they STILL don't have syllabus's out, or dates figured out for different things, and people are still getting switched around to different hospitals. It's a total cluster.
