I had a hell of a time deciding on what cap to buy, TW steered me away from ARE and to either LEER or Snug Top. I just wanted to provide an unbiased review of my experience with Snug Tops quality and product features. I purchased my snug top with the roof strengthening because I put a Tepui rooftop on top. Otherwise it was bone stock. After off roading with the heavy tent on top, throwing kayaks and canoes on top, and taking the cap through all sorts of weather I have put it through its paces. It has held up surprisingly well EXCEPT for the window gaskets on the back window. It leaks moderately if the nose of the truck is facing downhill but sleeping in the bed during a thunderstorm wasnt the end of the world, just made my sleeping bag a little damp. I park my truck outside and the paint is similar in quality to the Toyota OEM paint (My truck is white and the topper is black however) but it doesnt show scratches too easily and hasnt faded. In conclusion I do highly recommend the snugtop but beware of window gasket issues. I also recommend getting getting a sliding forward window so you can run an extension cord to the 120v plug in the back. The reinforced cap is also recommended if you plan on throwing weight on top of off roading which can crack the fiberglass. Fuel economy did not change after install.

Thanks for the cool review, I also have a snugtop and it's about 4 years old; I'm still happy with mine too. Wish I got the reinforced roof and factory installed racks.

You can always add Yakima racks later, unfortunately I don’t think you can easily reinforce one. How is the weatherproofing on yours?

Weatherproofing is solid, the only water testing it really gets is the pressure washer!

Edit: sometimes water gets in from the 3rd brake light :(
