Thanks for the suggestions. I'll dig around a bit and explore some of the wiring. I did apply sound deadener between the speaker adapters and door panel, and weather stripping between the speaker and adapter so I think that should cover that area. It sounds like it's coming from somewhere the door handle which has a screw into a bracket to hold it against the door frame. I'll double check that. Then there's the plastic on plastic panel holding the window and door lock/unlock buttons. Lots of places for a rattle there. Not sure there's much I can do about the buttons themselves, but I can try to add something between where the plastic button panel clicks into the door panel.

I'll try anything. The vibration drives me nuts.

Hey guys. I need some help. I'm going to install the Kicker Key and have some questions about how to wire the metra harnesses to give it power, ground and a 12V turn on. I understand the speaker wiring but not the others. If harness A sends speaker signals to the amp, and harness B received the amplified speaker signals to send to the speakers, how do I handle the power, ground and remote turn on? Thanks for the help, guys!

You will make a literal T.

Take a look at the blue remote wire. The two harnesses are still connected, but I also have a place to attach a third wire. You will do this with power, ground, and remote.

This particular harness was for a client getting a large 4 channel that needed a dedicated power run to the battery. If it was my vehicle, I’d solder/heat shrink. But in the shop, time costs money and good crimps hood perfectly fine.

Thanks for the help. So if I want to draw power and ground from the headunit, I make the same kind of T linkage as the remote turn on wire?

Exactly! Be it with soldering or crimps like shown, just have all 3 wires connected in some way (yellow from the male harness, yellow from the female harness, positive to the amp) and follow with ground as well

I’m waiting on a reply from kicker to see if they’ll sell me the harnesses that come with the Key. If they will, I’ll Be able to make a truly plug-n-play harness. If they won’t sell me standalone harnesses, I’ll just proceed with the rest. I’ll keep you posted

My driver side door speaker was rattling so I took it apart the other day. I bought some Noico so I figured I would put some on the door since I had it pulled apart. What a HUGE difference it made in the sound of the speaker and the reduction of road noise. I will be doing the other doors this weekedn. I would highly recommend it if you've been on the fence about it

So, heard back from Kicker. Unfortunately they don’t stock just the harnesses, as they are made and boxed at the manufacturing facility.

With that being said, there are two options moving forward.
I can simply make the vehicle side of the harness and you can finish it up by splicing the kicker harness and the vehicle harness together via crimping, soldering, etc.

Or, you could send me the wiring that comes in your Key amp, and I’ll build out the full harness and you’ll have a finished product ready to be installed.
This would have additional cost and turnaround time simply because you would have to mail me the harness.

If sending you the harness is the easiest way for me to install it.. then by all means let’s do it.. I’ll get your info.. & we’ll work out the particulars.. once again thanks bro @destin_meeks

    @destin_meeks

You've been a godsend and thank you for all the help! One last question and I promise I'll stop. In the posted picture above, the two blue wires coming from the harness on the top right look like they're both connected to the single blue wire from the harness on the top left, correct?

I've never done wiring like this before and want to make sure it's perfect the first time. I bought a soldering kit, the shrink wrap, a heat gun, etc., everything I need. I'm excited to try this.

The two circled wires on the right are connected together with the one circled wire on the left?

It looks like they are crimped together in the center.

Gotcha! Yes, they are both connected. I believe only the solid blue (power antenna) is actually pinned in the factory wiring but usually combine them when I’m in the shop to speed things up, instead of going over to the vehicle, comparing with factory wiring, and de-pinning the unused wire.

Ultimately, all of these wires are just accy wires. Solid blue is power antenna, blue/white is amp turn on (unused in our non-jbl trucks,) and red is the accy radio turn on. They all get hot with the key. You could have the amp’s remote turn on tied to any 3 of these wires.

Hi, I'm looking into upgrading the sound system in my 2018 OR. Are the Kicker speakers compatible with the OEM Audio+ sub/amp? I would like to upgrade the whole system eventually but, I'd like to start with the Kicker door speakers and tweeters, and get the Audio+ sub down the road.
