Was thinking of trying to get up there to fish, but I will be solo so I probably won’t drive all the way up. I’m guessing that I can get a couple miles away from the lake before shit gets really tough. It doesn’t look impossible but I’d like to have someone else with me if I were to try it.

There is a great spot right before the road drops down to the lake.

Bummer, I’m trying to figure out how to get up there. Looking at Maps it looks like you pretty much take North Meadow Creek road until it spurs at Sureshot lake and stay to the left until eventually it turns into an “unimproved” 4wd Road. I wonder how close I’ll be able to get to the lake before I hoof it the rest of the way.

    meh.

Id do it easy in my double cab. Doesn't look any worse than Boulder Basin or other shit ive done. All about the line and conditions. If its dry, you should have no issues.

I guess it will just depend on the weather and trail conditions but we’ll see what I’m comfortable with. I’ll be alone and I also don’t have skids or sliders.

Looks like a front skid would be beneficial. Sliders aren't needed it looks like. THe stock skids will work though.

When you goin? I've never been over there.

FWIW, I have done N Meadow a couple times, you dont go to sureshot, you stay left where the road switchbacks up toward sureshot. A couple miles past this point it turns to jeep road. It is rock crawling, id say worse then goose lake and independence. I was with a couple jeeps on 35s and 1 time an lifted xterra. A few miles after it turns to jeep road, the road forks, left to mckelvey, right to twin lake. Ive made it to twin, not to mckelvey. I did not have sliders at this time and dented my rocker panel when i slid off a rock, so i parked and rode up. The two jeeps made it, one without lockers struggled a bit though. Both times ive been, spotting was needed to avoid getting high centered.

Again, this was 3-4 years ago so things may have changed, just though id give some insight.

Nice thank you this was exactly what I was looking for. At the fork for Twin and McKelvey, how much further to McKelvey would you say it was?

Many many times our office is in Norris. What's your rig set up like? 33's and a locker almost going to be a must. You can make it to the cabin maybe a mile just below the lake easy enough. After that is where it gets more difficult. If your up in that area take the time to also go to twin lakes on the same trail. If you want someone to go with let me know fun damn trail.

Sounds good. With a spotter probably could be done, sliders would be nice. Everyone's opinion on trails can be different. I will say it is changing as more people use it. I use to go through the tough part clean with out a locker or hitting bottom not no more, and that's with a set up Jeep:anonymous::crapstorm:. Could always park at the cabin and check out. Also Past McKelvey there is Miner and Cliff lakes. Twin lakes is fun and you'd have no problem with that one.

The main objective is to go to McKelvey because I want to fish, I wouldn’t mind hiking over to Cliff and Mine either. I don’t need to get my rig all the way to the lake, I’d just like to get close enough so it’s quick hike in. Wouldn’t mind checking out Twin Lakes either.
