I am sorry I feel for you!!
I was in the same boat until the suit.
Not sure but would you be in line for the 1 year since suit settlement?

I would love to see the criteria what is/not safe!

Once I saw a Toyota memo on the process. It only mentioned the hole size. Nothing about where is was or how close to a weld, another hole, edge, etc. scary

Trust the Service manager (who makes a percent off your repair) or a mechanical engineer, I’ll trust the ME!

Here is the paper work that all the dealerships got on the frame warranty, in the link it also lays out where they have to find rust holes for your truck to qualify for a free frame replacement.

I'm a new member. I never got a notice from a dealer or recall notice from Toyota. I got rear ended by a Ford Taurus last week. Should have been no big deal for my 05 Sequía. Got a call from the other person's insurance and was told my car was declared totalled. The reason is because the repairs (new bumper, brackets, hitch and spare tire carrier) could not be made because the frame was too rusty. I purchased the car used and only had 2 more payments to make. I want to retire in two years and don't need another car payment.

Do I have any recourse to Toyota?

    Hello!

I'm not really an "internet person" but I hope I'm doing this right.

I'm a Canadian. I have a 2006 Tacoma with a broken frame. The dealer has already agreed to replace it. Estimate is about three months. I have been told by others (and read on this forum) that some people have been given rental vehicles until the repairs are completed.

The customer service person I spoke to told me they would offer a rental for the week where it was specifically being fixed.

I don't understand that. If it's gone for three months why wouldn't I get a rental for the whole three months?

Can anyone point me to a policy or something that explains this?

I don’t know about Canada, but in the warranty paper work for the US it clearly states to provide the customer alternate transportation. Here on page 3:

Sorry for those who are having issues and the thought of a rotted frame kept me up at night!
Even worse is having a rotten frame and out of time!
Not sure why I got a new frame I did due diligence to try to maintain it. Ended up with a weld that was bad and was missing. I knew frame rust was a problem when I bought it.
I have not taken possession of my truck yet but I did go to see it!

I am so happy as of now looks awesome. Didn’t notice anything out of place, oil spots on driver side front but looks like it’s still dripping penetrating fluid.
Lots of bolts with a coat of grease and a box that’s aligned properly with the cab!!!
I am a pig in chit.
I wish all Tacoma’s owners a new painless frame!!!
My 17 taco has kinda been growing on me!
But I’m ready for my taco!

Gotta get her home and then
    Undercoat fluid film maybe?
Put sub, avid bars front and rear, my grill, rgb fogs, lights behind grill, lights on front bar, and swap rear bumper cover.
I pretty much took all my extras off before it went in.
I wanted to swap wheels but it was just too hot and they wanted it now or loose the spot.

Not trying to gloat just really happy to see my girl all clean down below!
And all the extras I’d gotten for it and the tech doing what looks to be an awesome job, she looks almost new.

So, I've seen a couple different recalls for the Tacoma but I haven't seen anything for the frame rust. I bought my 2010 used back in 2014 and I'm a bit confused as to what recalls apply to my truck? I took her in for the access cab seatbelt issue a couple years ago and I know there's one for leaf springs, I think? Can I just take her to the dealership and have them check for any/all possible recalls, or do I have to go in with a specific one in mind?

Don't mention recall in regard to this "limited service campaign" (LSC). I would call the dealership with your VIN# and have them look up if your Tacoma has ever been inspected as part of the LSC.

The LSC was the first phase and that was extended by the "warranty enhancement program" (WEP). This link gives you all the info. you need https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2URUkJsuJkedmtWWEM5STZENHM/view If you mention recall in regard to this they won't know what you are talking about. Anything else like the leaf springs will be under a recall and the dealership can tell you if they need to be replaced by entering your VIN# in the system.

Ohh, so this is a separate thing from the recalls. Gotcha. It seems as though I'm not in a Cold Climate State anyhow..

    Thanks for the clarification.

Well, it's more than I had before. :)

Thanks for the advice. I'll see if there's something similar up here.

I appreciate you taking the time to reply.

Pretty sure dealers have figured out how to make money on the frame swaps!
Seemed mine was willing and happy to do it!
As long as Toyota was willing to pay they were in. Have not settled up with them yet they say they have to have me and the owner go over it.
Not sure why but Toyota parts mostly installed by a Toyota dealer carry a 1 year warranty. I have already looked it over and had started it to see how she runs.
It has a pulley/belt chirp not sure if it’s the tension or alt, it was not doing it beforehand.

I would bring it to your local dealer and ask to have your frame inspected!

Did you get this with your new frame?
    DBD01BAF-1757-4F81-A0E4-29A776DCA684.jpg
Just wondering if this is part of the new frame or the guy who did it figured I should have it?

Well, toyota is not going to help you at this point so if the other person's insurance gives you a fair deal just take it.

After the frame and leaf spring we’re installed I hated the new springs and I complained so I bought Dakar’s and the dealer swapped them no charge . Then I sold the new ones they put in for $300
