Honestly, I haven’t been able to tell a difference. And I lost the bolts and mounting brackets when redoing the front end so I couldn’t put it back on right now anyway:rofl:

Well, had a dream that I ordered ADS suspension from Marie at Headstrong so I took it as a sign to stop shopping around and make it happen. She was super helpful through the entire process and I would definitely recommend her services. Plus her price is super reasonable, with free shipping, and a total package deal. Hopefully the is the last suspension kit I ever buy for this truck.:spending:

I opted for 700# coils given I am a 3rd gen DCSB V6 4x4 and I plan to add an AGM battery and armor down the road. Also opted for Headstrongs Stage 3 kit, extended length with the compression adjusters, and SPC arms. I wanted to be in the $3,000 range but figured if I only want to buy once cry once then I need to do it now, plus the wife said she was cool with it given all the overtime I worked this year and she wants me to only have to buy 1 lift kit for this truck, I love that woman. :bananadance:

Also, dont judge my dream, I started my first day of my 3rd shift round last night and got called in early for a 12hr shift so I didnt get any sleep. :lalala:

Damn, a few minutes too late. LOL. Just submitted my order from Marie, she has been super helpful and deserved my business anyways but I can never pass up a deal.

Will do, current thought process is use very little preload and hopefully be sitting at 1.5-2" up front and 2" in back after settling. I am hoping the needle bearing issue doesnt hit me. How many of you ADS 3rd gens put the ECGS bushing in?

A ton of people had vibes, but the ECGS bushing is the true fix. I would get it and put it in when you do your shock install. I didn’t and REALLY wish I did. Cost me more to do it after the fact. The part is $60

I figured, I will look into it before my suspension gets delivered. Doing the install at a friends shop so we will see how it goes.

I am sure you are shocked to learn that my post is about shock adjustment. I am going to admit that I have no idea how to do this. I know how to turn a knob, mind you. What I don't know is how much, what direction for what circumstance, etc. And no instructions came with my shocks, so....

I guess my two questions would be:

    1. What is the reference point for knowing the current setting? For instance, what is the setting of the shock pictured?

    2. Any advice on what settings to use under what conditions?

    Thanks in advance.

Damn good question. Is the hose the set spot?

    Workin' on it....
Due to the hundreds of different weight combinations front to back, bumpers, bed racks etc. there is no right or wrong for each individual setup - just what works better for you.

Turning the knob all the way counter clockwise puts you at 0 compression. Every one of the next 20 clicks in a clockwise direction makes the compression that much firmer.

In order to tell where you are reset to 0 or +20 and count up or down as the case may be.

I run +12 on my rear shocks with a bed rack and it drives great on road. Off road, slow speed I may soften them up a bit. There are no instructions because you need to figure out what works for your specific rig.

Thank you so much. So, as a general rule, firmer on road, less so off?

Do you still hear the top out or does it dampen enough so that u don’t notice it?

I just assumed they came in the middle of the settings from ADS. I had the same question about adjusting them....until I wiped all the mud off of them and saw the arrows! When I'm off-road I adjust the fronts up (more firm) about 5-6 clicks to keep them from hitting my bump stops so much.

Just a slight correction, setting it to 0 gives you no additional compression dampening. you will still be able to compress the shock :)

I usually run it at 5 clicks on the road. This allows me to not have to slow down whatsoever on speed bumps. Off road, I tend to firm it up even further to prevent bouncing... especially if I am loaded up. if we are planning on going fast off road, liek 35 mph+, then i will turn them way up.

When I spoke to Brian @ ADS, he mentioned that at full 20 clicks, should be able to hit a 7" rock at 35mph without any issues. I can confirm that you can drive a lot faster on rugged terrain with it turned most or all the way up.

Best thing to do is to set it to something, run some trail. Change it, run it again and see the difference. This will really quickly get you into the right setting for you and your truck on that trail.

I have some noises in the same situation. Everything is tight as it relates to the suspension. I believe pops and what not on C/O's are common on 3rd gens.

No. You strap it to stop downtravel just before the shock gets to full extension.
