Do you have any pics? So you end up with a hitch pin on both the truck side and the trailer side. Does it rattle a lot?

I'll get a picture this weekend.

Yes, hitch pin on truck and trailer.

No, it doesn't rattle. It is not the tightest fit, but I don't hear any rattle.

Cool, I like the idea, it makes recovery/towing the trailer with a different vehicle mucho easier.
When I have made square tube driveshafts for crawlers I just use 2" and 2.5" receiver stock. Then i run a few beads down each face of the 2" and grind them back a bit until the shaft fits super tight. But a trailer hitch dosent need to slide in and out like a drive shaft, so in this case I might just tack weld in some sheetmetal shims to take any slop out on the trailer side.

I have been thinking about adding shims to mine. Probably not 100% necessary, but peace of mind.

But I have towed that close to 30,000 miles...

    Yes it was/is.

The coupler is still nice and solid. I am going to replace the mushroom looking bushing that goes in the truck side receiver drop - not worn out, just showing some signs of wear. I would like to open up trailer side (where the 360* pivot is) but I am not sure I can. I do put grease here regularly.

A relative borrowed our eazy up and returned it broken, of course. We did some searching and found the new ABC canopies and got a 10x10 with 2 wall sections. We camped in the rain most of last weekend so i moved it rt up against the trailer wow was that cool. We stayed dry and happy playing cards while everybody around us was hiding in tents or their cars or leaving

good lookin basecamp! I'm sure yours draws a lot of attention as well. During my last trip I made an eye patch and wore it around camp and yelled "yaaarrrr" at everyone who I caught looking at it.

I've always wondered with the awnings like that when it rains do you lower the outside so the rain runs off that direction? Do those collect water in the middle of them when it rains?

I haven't had it in the rain yet. It seems fairly repellent. with enough slope it should shed water nicely...to a point.
