Hi, been searching but haven't found anything regarding a TSB for take off shudder on 3rd gens. My 2009 didn't have take off shudder but had other vibration issues.. I test drove 2 2018 TRD off road access cab trucks and both had shudder under hard acceleration at low speed. Is there a solution for this or is this just another normal characteristic of the truck as per toyota? Will be driving the actual truck I plan to pick up tmrw, hoping for no vibes or won't finalize the deal. But if there is a TSB to resolve any potential issues I find that would be great. My last one was in the shop for TSB stuff a few times and it was like pulling teeth to get them done.

    Thanks!

Do you need to know, or care?
Can you explain the shudder a little more? I can't say I've experienced this, and I've been under some hard ecceleration from relatively low speeds. Is it a shudder in the steering wheel?

Honestly, problems are fairly prevalent here so if you don’t see a TSB posted for it already, it probably doesn’t exist.

Maybe the new ecu tsb solves this 62-18
If you get the truck make sure it has this tsb performed.

If you are not “high altitude” TSB 58-18 does the exact same fix. Just complain about surges between 40-50mph.

This shudder i mention is clearly coming from the driveline, I have experienced this in 2nd gen tacomas also but my 2009 regular cab never did it. Otherwise 2 of the 3 trucks i test drove were good, one had the buzzy pedal vibe and i could sense a slight wah wah wah thing going on with it, my last tacoma did that shit and it was annoying. the dealer is ordering me a truck in my colour choice, so when it arrives i will drive the 300 miles and see what happens... the local dealer was somehow trying to get an extra 5k out of me.. that is typical for my area though.

haha ya the area i live in is really bad for vehicle prices, 3 of my last 5 vehicles required out of town trips that resulted in saving thousands of dollars each time. the wah wah wah lol is the cyclic sorta weird vibe/noise that some of these trucks like to make. you know, the sorta thing toyota will attempt to fix then not be able to fix and call it a characteristic of the truck.. been there.
