Aftermarket RV mirror mounting and powersource

I found a E13-010103 mirror in a 4Runner at the scrapyard and want to mount it in my 04' for that sweet compass and thermometer.

I have 4 problems to solve first though.



Mounting:


This mirror is windshield mounted and my taco is headliner mounted.

I don't have the bracket for the new mirror to mount to the windshield and even if I did, there is a dash-camera in the way.

there has to be a way to retrofit this onto (or next to) the OEM mount with out making any permanent modifications to the mount, which is problem #2.

If I don't like this mirror, the old one needs to go back on.

A power source is the 3rd problem, either route the power line down to a 12v source inside the cab that operates in the Acc & on positions...

-or-

Run a 12v line up to the headliner area and create a tiny junction box/fuse panel for other accessories and future mods. (overhead console planned)

Last is orientation and encasement of the compass or? thermometer module. I don't know which component this is...)


This little bastard is just dangling from the back of the mirror and is on about 3" of wire. It was encased in plastic near the windshield mount.

I have some 1/8" Tivar 1000 plastic (somewhat soft) and a little 1/8 6061 aluminum for material. The plastic to encase PCB, and the aluminum pre-drilled and mounted between headliner and OEM RV mirror mount so I can mount the new mirror to the aluminum and get it close to windshield to get the angle better to what it was designed for.

As for power I dont know what wiring diagrams to search for a good point to draw from but a diagram would be great.

I have a few ideas in my head but you guys are some of the most creative little shits I have ever seen and will never be able to think of all the solutions ya'll can...

Edit: This was suggested as a power feed from the interior fuse box. Anyone have any experience with these?

This particular Add-a-fuse is a regular size ATC. The body ecu (ie interior fuse box) uses mini blade ATC fuses.

 

Ah ok, Thanks for pointing that out. I was looking at minis but they came with extra fuses and were more expensive, this one was suggested and cheaper. Didn't even notice it was ATC.

The ones at the brick & mortar parts stores are about the same price as that Amazon one fwiw.

 

They're all ATC. There're regular, mini & micro. And it wouldn't surprise me if there were more as well.

 

I have always called them "regulars" and "smaller ones" LOL
