Is this anyone on here? Parked next to me in Imperial Beach in the Saturn Blvd shopping plaza.

Silver second gen, murdered grill, black mb wheels, BAMF bed rack with rotopax, traction boards, rtt , nfab steps. That’s all I remember. Nice ride!

Yep, alum for me... taco is my DD (I work from home, so its a grocery getter, errands)

    ok...ya ya, back on topic.

saw a really clean cement OR with black rims and a lift that lives around the corner. my feelings towards 3rd gens are not under discussion, however my slight love appeal with the cement grey makes them ok to look at.

edit: oohh, not bad slightly cheaper than those other guys in SD, but EVEN with shipping. ouch. rci ftw :spending:

I'm also in the market for aluminum skids as soon as I *hopefully* get my deposit back...

Other than RCI, any vendors do aluminum front/mid/transfer case (w/out reroute)? I'm not looking for anything in depth in case this is the wrong place to ask, just a heads up to any local places in SoCal.

I generally try to avoid making things that are readily available on the market. One offs will always be far more expensive than purchasing from someone that mass produces them, that’s if the quality is the same of course.

i love this. Everyone crying about center of gravity, and here everyone is trying to go light on the things that make the biggest difference. While aluminum might provide more than enough protection for most, steel skids put wieght where you want it most. As low as you can possibly get it.

Got it right. Doesn't matter if its steel, aluminum, adamantium, chinesium...the stock tin-can plate weighs nothing and adding something, I believe is better than nothing. no? So it all depends on what the purpose of the truck is. Some of believe in compromise between weight and strength and keep that in mind when wheeling. Others, want the most protection can go steel. I prefer lead, but anyone try welding that shit? Its impossible.
