I think that's a great choice, more fun to make a trip like that with your better half. Graeme did tell me GFC would be at ExpoEast so there will probably be a half dozen or so around. I should be at the BackroadVentures booth with mine. Hope to see you there!!

I have a Decked Drawer system, which acts not only as storage for all my gear but also a raised flat platform for the back of the truck. I think you would get a LOT more utility out of a drawer system over a bedslide. I asked Graeme specifically his thoughts on a platform (drawers or just a simple platform with some Rubbermaid's) and he definitely recommended having something up a little higher to help get in and out of the bed. There is still WAY more than enough space to stand up even with the Decked System (12") in the bed.

Lol.... it would be cool. Can’t hurt to call and see if you can arrange something? Not sure of course how much stuff he’s hauling for the show.

I would like to note that Graeme mentioned installing some 5/16-18 screws into the open holes of the GFC sooner than later (this was mentioned quite a few pages back as well). Has anyone had luck with a spray type rust preventor that they can recommend to dog inside the frame? I was thinking either Barricade or Fluid Film, but I’m open to suggestions. I also cut a dozen (didn’t count he holes first) gaskets out of Gylon to seal out the water.

I have Pan Head Machine screws, Cap Screws and regular bolts all in the right thread pattern in stainless so I’ll see which one looks/ functions best but i will prob go with the lowest profile. Thanks.

Graeme also gave me a "sneak peak" at the dog ventilation solution. I certainly will not take the wind from their sails and spoil the suprise, but I'll say it's so simple it's brilliant....

All new campers going out should have those plug screws already in place. We’re using pan head cap screws. These are treated at the factory with boeshield t9. We tested out fluid film as well and liked it with the exception of the smell. It was described by one of our employees as smelling like grandma’s basement. Not the descriptive words we want people to use for our campers :) both work well for corrosion protection though.

The GFC seems to be on top if things as far as feedback and issues are concerned. Shoot, as far as anything is concerned. The new screws and corrosion protection are just one more example of them setting the bar higher.

My camper may have been the very last one to leave MT than without plugs and treatment. Mine has 16 unplugged holes and just a trace of rust water coming out of one or two of them prob from getting wet on the drive. I’m airing everything out right now (though it’s funny my wife actually mentioned how it smelled a lot better than a new tent) I guess Montana air smells better than China. Hopefully everything dries out and the fluid film (i picked it simply because it was available on my drive home) should mitagate any corrosion.

I agree with @wileydavis for sure i like the Pan Head Screws best, not sure if I’ll use the gaskets though it prob won’t hurt anything either way...

So far my wife loves it!!!! Much cooler in the light now that we can actually set it up!!

First trip with GFC will most likely be the end of this month into the Tug Hill, or Adirondacks. Going to do a few weekend trips when I can get a weekend off, just to get everything dialed before 10 days in Nov. I’m super excited the mattress is very comfortable!!!

When you have time, can you share some pics from the back to give an idea how it looks with a decked system?
    Thanks

For those who have received their GFCs in the past couple of days, how far in advance did you get a call? I’m #32, build date was June, and I’m really hoping to hear something soon. I expect to hear that it is on the truck that is out for delivery.

To be honest Elise told me Graeme was coming my way, but I never heard anything about what day or when. I texted him and set it up myself. Elise is in Alaska so I don’t think she will be much help at the moment but you can try.

Graeme told me he was headed to Western Mass, than Virginia, Florida, Arkansas so if you’re somewhere in those areas I imagine yours is out. I can give you Graeme’s number to call or text if you like?

You’re a few days out I’d guess he’s leaving Mass today going to Virginia, than to FL to get a truck, than to you. If you need his number I can send it to you but I’d be pretty certain yours is on the way!!!!!!!

I’d almost say you NEED a platform to use the GFC to potential. No reason not to have one for storage and my wife and I can get up and down easy with it installed. I’m very happy with the setup. Of course you don’t need a Decked, or drawers at all but a basic platform makes things easier for sure. I’m 5’ 9” so unless you’re like 7 feet tall the platform will not interfere with standing.

@macdadmorgan been seeing your posts on IG and started following you. I’m a little jealous you got your install during the day. I got virtually no pics. Oh well. It sure is freaking awesome isn’t it!?!?!? I couldn’t be happier.

At least you were there for your own install

I was on business travel. Left the truck with family. One other guy left his keys in a lock box for install because he was traveling too I think.

    Glad more are getting out.

Just barely...... Graeme finished up just after 11 and I drove it straight to work. It was a lot of fun though and according to him it was helpful in keeping them on schedule. Yeah there must be close to 50 “ in the Wild” now....

Have you guys noticed any rubbing of the panel revits and the spaceframe? Just found this today :( no issue on the tail end panel though.
