2" lift Recomendations

Hi, I have been researching through the threads trying to piece together a 2" lift for my 2013 Tacoma TRD double cab, here is what I came up with. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Rear shocks Bilstein

That’s a good setup for the price. If your truck is 4x4 that should actually get you a little more than 2 inchs of lift up front after settling. That’s with no extra weight added. If that’s 2.75 inches of lift in the back it’s going to be pretty high in the rear compared to the front

 

I need to replace my leaf springs because I have a broken leaf in each one. I am looking at putting a cap on so that should reduce the rear height

 

Yea that will get you closer. So consider that when it says 2.75 inches of lift that’s based off of the stock ride height with good leaf springs. Stock with the rear leafs in good condition it should sit around 1.5 inches higher in the back so adding around 2 inches of lift to the front and 2.75 to the back will make it over 3 inches higher in the back. A cap shouldn’t drop the ride height any more than an inch if that. I pefer the back to sit just a little higher myself. Just giving you something to think about

 

So what would you recommend for a leaf pack?

 

If you can swing it, Bilstein 6112 front / 5160 rears would be a nice setup with the Dakar rear springs

 

that would be a little more $$$, Not doing a lot of offroad ust want to upgrade my suspension. Looks like you can remove a leaf and drop 15mm.

 

If 2” is all you need then try these.

 

If you can remove one and drop 15mm that would put you pretty close to level and if not you could go a little higher in the front with a 1/4 Inch top plate spacer. I would just avoid going over 2.5 inches of lift up front because it will be hard to get it aligned without getting new UCA’s if you go over 2.5

 

I did 5100s all around and @HeadStrong Off-Road coil springs that gave me 2” of lift in the front.

 

So for the rear lift with the EMU Dakar RL095R leafs which shock would be better

It’s hard to say without know how much droop and how much compression you have after the springs. If you’re not sure The best way to tell is to get your leafs installed and measure it both while fully compressed and fully drooped from your upper and lower shock mounting points. Then you can go by the collapsed and extended lengths they give you in the specs. If your shock is too long it may bottom out when compressed either damaging the shock or limiting you up-travel. Same as if the shock is too short it will either damage the shock or limit your down travel by stopping before the suspension is fully drooped.

 

On my AC 4.0 manual prerunner I got 1.75" of lift from 5100s front/rear with the fronts set to zero, OME 2883 springs, medium-duty Dakars with the overload removed, and a 1/4" Taco Lean spacer. I have sliders but no other significant extra weight. Your truck is probably heavier than mine so take that into account if you want a net 2" on yours.

I needed to replace my whole spring packs as my OEM ones were shot but wanted to keep my load capacity and make the lift as small as possible.

This thread helped me decide on the Dakars (minus the overload) and I chose the 2883 coils to match that. Hope this helps!

I'm shooting for the same thing. I just ordered and received OME 884's that I am pairing with my 5100's. Headstrong's website says that will give me 2". I'm also using a Toytec 1/4" top plate spacer to compensate for the lean.

For the rear, I went with GeneralSpringKC HD 90-297HD leafs to pair with my 5100's. I've read on here that they will give about 2.5" and settle to about 2".

I am also adding a Leer 100XR camper shell. I'm hoping this brings the rear down a smidge so that I get a more level appearance.

I should be installing this weekend and plan to post results.

 

Please post the results on the general he springs been curious about those myself. Wonder if they add any load capacity over stock crap.

 

It seems I pieced together the same package as the Headstrong package HS05BK-1-Dakar. Hoping to achieve 2.5" lift.

 

I've talked to several about them and have heard great things. No squeaking and they keep the rear end from sagging under a load.

Just messaged with another member on here with them. He said "I run around with my ATV in the bed regularly. It’s a Suzuki king quad and weights 700lbs. Truck feels fantastic. Handles the load no problem and doesn’t squat. Also installed bump stops..."

We will see.

 

I too have a king quad and if it won't squat I maybe tempted to buy these over Dakars. Do these include the bushings?
